Yikes....Yesterday we found out mom's EKG was abnormal. She has an appt this morning with a cardiologist at the hospital so he can run some tests and hopefully give her clearance for surgery. We are praying praying praying that everything is normal and everything is okay.

We are back from Mom's appt with the Cardiologist and...she has been cleared for surgery!!!! YAY!!!! We are very happy- Thank you to everyone who prayed!

Mom and I completed our Pre-Op testing yesterday at Methodist Hospital. First we went to the surgeons office and met w/ Dr. Davis for the last time before surgery on monday. Then they sent us for our other tests. The waiting took awhile, but we're just glad it's over! We had an EKG, chest X-Ray, and bloodwork done. Mom also got her C-PAP machine last night... she was excited about that because the last sleep study she had with the machine made a TON of difference in how she felt the next day. :0) So i'm happy she got it, and i'm very lucky not to have sleep apnea, although i am often tired, no matter how much sleep i get. I hope this improves with surgery!!
I can't believe monday is so close now... i've been staying very busy with school...i take all my finals today and tomorrow... I opted not to work this weekend at all so i had time to do all my last minute stuff.... i'm getting the rest of my x-mas shopping done, cleaning, gathering supplies for post-op, spending time with family, etc...
Oh, i almost forgot.... Dr. Davis is doing something a little new and having pre-ops do liquid diet prior to surgery....so that means between now and then we'll be having slimfast for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... :-P Blech... lol... but that's okay... At least it'll make it easier for him to do it LAP, so whatever helps. :0) I'll update soon!

Time is going by pretty fast. Mom and I are now 2 weeks away from surgery. Our pre-op appt is next week 12/06 and we are excited to get that done. I have been staying very busy with school...this is technically our last week of official class (meaning lecture, etc). I am cramming all of my finals into next week, because half of them were scheduled for the week we are having surgery. I just told my teachers I will be having a major abdominal surgery, so they have been pretty understanding with letting me complete my finals early. That is great, b/c after surgery, i will not have to worry about rushing to go back to class or anything.... spring semester doesn't start until 01/17/06!!
I went to the gyno this morning for my 3-month pap check-up, since my last 2 have come up abnormal. I am praying that this one comes out normal, otherwise that will mean i have to have another procedure called a LEEP (spelling?)... I let the doc know about my upcoming WLS and she said that if it does come back abnormal it will not be a problem to wait until after i'm healed to have the LEEP done, thank goodness that it won't interfere or delay my WLS. I appreciate any prayers anyone would like to send my way! :0)

Well, i spoke...er...typed too soon. The doctors office called and we have to reschedule our surgeries for 12/12/05. Looks like we'll be waiting a little bit longer.

Well, it's all becoming very real now! Mom and I go the hospital for pre-op on Thursday 11/17, and our surgery date is scheduled for Wednesday 11/23!!!!!! I'm so glad that they are able to perform both surgeries on the same day...we really wanted to be able to start this together, plus sharing a room afterwards will make it much easier for family to come visit on Thanksgiving- the day after our surgery. I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to everyone who sent well-wishes and prayers our way! :0)

I called UHC- "just to see" and they were able to tell me that we (mom and I) have both been APPROVED!!!!!!! They are mailing out notification today- need i say more?? :0) I am so relieved and unbelievably excited for the next step.

We are still waiting to hear from UHC. They received all of my mom's paperwork 10/31 and received all of mine 11/04. I spoke with someone in expedited claims who said that I should hear something by tomorrow- Friday 11/11. I sure hope so!!! I've been calling alot, so they will get tired of me and just approve, already! :0) LOL! I also spoke with Phoebe at Dr. Davis's office- (she has been very helpful!!) she said that once we get approval, the surgery will be about 2 weeks away. We still have to complete all the pre-op testing, etc. We were hoping to have surgery before Thanksgiving, but looks like that won't be able to happen with the timeline, but that's okay. I know that God's hand is in everything and we've had to wait for a reason.

Well, i called UHC this morning, but the lady refferred me to someone that didnt know what they were talking about. i decided to call back this afternoon and i spoke to someone extremely nice- come to find out that "pre-determination" received all of my mom's paperwork on monday (we are doing everything together- ) dr office sent our stuff together, so my paperwork should have been there, also... but it wasn't. She gave me a fax number for the dr to resubmit all my paperwork and they will send it over to pre-determination as soon as they get it.... gosh, it's getting more real now! I'm so excited and anxious!!!!!!!

Confirmed today with Joan that she submitted everything to UHC on Friday- 10/28/05. She said they normally take about 7-10 days to respond. I'm going to start calling them tomorrow...
