Chris, I think your feelings are valid. yes, I think the surgery can bring up conflicting and strong emotions. You have been passed up at work, which is not OK. My advice is to focus on getting everything ready for surgery, them recuperate, go back to work, and when you are physically stronger you may want to consider fighting for a promotion. It sounds like there yout age could be a factor in you being passed over. COnsider consulting with the EEOC...down the road however. I think finding a therapist is an excellent idea. I think you could use the support therapy could offer. You hang in there, and don't let anybody get you down!!! write any time. Mari

Oh Chris, I loved your post today. I read about your stepson and teared up...then read about the mesuring thing at the hospital and smiled. Just wanted you to know I'll be thinking of you and praying for your stepson too! God bless. Jamie

Chris, best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery and a recovery thats as quick and painfree as possible. This quote is from a book my grandmother gave me before she passed away. It was one or her favorites.(Kahil Gibran) "But if in your thought you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all the other seasons, and let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing"
