Karen, Thank-you so much for your kind words and thoughts. I am getting ready to leave work and see the Dr. then tomorrow I have my pre-op and I am dreading the blood gas one. I get on a plane Tues to go to California for work, return on the eve of the 12th and surgery is the 17th...at least will be doing something to keep my mind off of the surgery. I was sorry to read of your incision problem and hope everything is going well for you. My daughter had the surgery on June 18th and she and her incision look great. She is down about 50 lbs. I can only pray I heal as fast as her, but I am 52 and just quit smoking (still on the patch)..what can I say. Hell, if I had known I was gonna have this body this long I woulda took better care of it. Oh well, another chance on the other side..look out world..please keep in touch.

Hi everyone- I'm home again. I had developed a seroma (fluid) under my incision, and when it stopped draining, it built up and started becoming infected. I caught it as it was happening, and was at the hospital as the first fever developed. On 7/9, my 7th day postop, my surgeon re-opened my incision to the fascial layer and drained, then packed it. That was the routine, plus IV antibiotics, for the next 3 days. I am released on oral antibiotics and doing daily wound care on the abdominal incision which *may* be re-closed around 7/22 (that's the icky part). I'm still doing well, and ready to walk and resume work next week. The good news? No sepsis, and weight loss thusfar of 28lbs/11 days. Joy to you all wherever you are on the journey.
