So... here's the latest--
Karen was doing well last week, some drainage/seeping from the umbilical hernia (not a big deal) but no major problems. We went to a
b-day party for a friend of ours, and she did well. She even had a small piece of watermelon, about 3x3, which lasted her 1/2 an hour :-)
Sunday she decided she was well enough to burn off some excess energy by folding laundry, and kinda overdid it. Monday saw a temp of
101-ish and some soreness along the incision, so we crushed some tylenol and that brought the tem p down a bit but not much. We called
her surgeon who directed us to the ER where her temp was in the 102 range. She was admitted and got to her room with 2 older ladies who
were both a bit (OK a lot) hard of hearing (what?) To shorten things a bit, she had her incision opened up and drained today, so she's back
on the 3rd floor until Thursday at the very least, more likely Friday. She will probably come home with a drain Friday afternoon/evening.
She's in relatively good spirits but is frustrated by this setback. After Dr Wood drained her incision today she was looking much better.
More news as it hits the streets (or fan as the case may be)... Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!
See ya,
Joe
