I'm home! Surgery -open RNY- was Monday. Because of all the good stuff I've learned here, I was able to walk,walk,walk and breathe,breathe,breathe and get home quickly. I also passed along so discharge teaching to others that should have been done. Feeling sore, but good. Thank you to all of you for your wishes and prayers-

Hi kids... I'm Joe, Karen's husband. Karen went into surgery right on time this morning, and did very well. Surgery took about an hour and a half, with another hour or so in recovery. She got to her room about 1:30 or so, and started shaking off the lingering effects of the anesthesia. By 4:00-ish she was standing at the bedside, no dizziness or nausea, and at 7:00 we took a lap around the nurse's station. When I left a 8:30 she was getting a breathing treatment. Tomorrow, the NG tube gets pulled after (I think) her leak test (checks the suture line at the bypass for, well, leaks...), then she's on clear liquids. She should be discharged on Wednesday afternoon/Thursday morning. Thanks for all your support and kind words. You guys are alright!

Just stopping by to wish you a speedy recovery filled with lots of morphine, pain meds, and hopefully no sponges missing. :o) Congrats on your much awaited day, I will be praying for you. Have a blessed day~ HUGGERS ~Ang~

Karen, you are going to come thru' this with flying colors !!!! You have the best doctor, a nice hospital, all will be downhill from here on in!!! Just 9 days out myself, i have more energy, life is good, just wait!!!! We will be able to compare stories-----SUCCESS STORIES !!! YIPPEE---YOU GO GIRLIE !!!! Yup, the pounds are coming off so quickly..can't wait to have you on "the other side with us !" God Love you, and keep you safe" mary ann
