Cat, Keep up the fight at least they have not denied you... I was told by the medical director at my insurance ....that if they ask for more info...it is just about having those requirements completed and on file so when the are audited they came prove the proper decision was made...and that you met all the criteria... patti

Cat, I am sorry to hear about all the difficulties you have had with your ins. company. I must say I dont prefer HMO's but I must say I am lucky to have pacificare they approved me on the first letter. And have given me no slack except for the prescription problems I have had. However I hope that resolves after my surg. Well I wish you the best of luck. Tamara

Hello Cat, Thankyou for the support. I read about you and I really do not understand about insurance companies. You would think that if they paid for this surgery that it WOULD reduce their costs of problems with anybody. They would be better off in the long run. You pay out your nose for insurance and the companies make money. I hope you can get what you need done to have your surgery. Just remember, I think somethings that we have to fight for just makes it all worth the effort. It does get aggravating I am sure, but we as women can handle anything and can accomplish anything. Well good luck on your journey and keep in touch.

Hi Cat, I took Wellbutrin for depression 3 years ago and it took away my desire to smoke. I quit again 4 days ago because I have bronchitis, have been coughing and cigs taste nasty. I had DH buy me the patch from Walmart and I have no cravings. I don't know what's gonna happen when I quit using the patch, but for now it's great because my lungs have a chance to heal. Best Wishes.

Cat, LoL.... I lit my fake cig, that cost $13 too, you are not alone there. (buddy did I feel STUPID) Old habits die hard, my pulminologist said to remove all triggers also. Lighters, Ashtrays, etc... and to journal the triggers and When you smoke and be very aware of them at first. If getting in the car makes you want to have a smoke, clean the ashtray, (stinky) After meals? etc...whatever is your trigger, work through it. Put NO SMOKING rules/signs in your house, people that care about you WILL abide by them! I've had no problems with my few visitors and son. My house, my rules :) I never did throw my lighter out, but I always have a candle burning. Just don't keep it near your straws!! hehe 23 days smoke-free!

Hi Cat, Vickie here again, I'm now 20 days smoke free, and have been using the patch. I haven't had a second thought about smoking really this entire 20 days. When you get the patch, set your alarm for 2 hours before you normally get up and put the first one on. Then when you wake up you'll already have your *fix*. Nicotene is a drug and the hardest to get over. Also I've went through A LOT of life-savers, for the oral fixation. Cut a straw also to hold when your hands need that. Get rid of the stinky ashtrays too, so you can't smell them, within a couple days everyone that smokes will stand out like a sore thumb, this is not easy, But YOU CAN DO IT! Good luck and Happy Holidays!!

Hi Cat, Best wishes to you on your wls journey. Cat, I can't figure it out why some people can stop smoking without any problems. I stopped in 1997. within a week of saying I was going to stop. I bought 1 pack and said I wasn't going to buy no more. I didn't have cravings so bad were I went crazy. I also stopped drinking at the same time. I haven't went back since. All this to say hang in there. you can do it. Best wishes to you on this wls journey. God Bless and keep you well. Hugs
