I started life in a big way.  I was 9 lbs. 15 1/2 oz. when I was born.  My mother has still not forgiven me for that!  I don't blame her.  She never walked the same again.

I quickly grew into a tall, lanky awkward kid.  In pictures from when I was in elementary school I look underfed.  Puberty changed all that.

Throughout high school I was 5'9" and weighed 160-165 pounds.  I thought I was fat.  Looking back, I wasn't all that big, but I sure thought I was.  Of course I was comparing myself to tiny little things.

But once you have it in your head that you are fat, what's the real difference between 160 and 260 or 360 for that matter?  By the time I was in my late 30's, I was at an all time high of 290.  I may have been heavier, but that is when I decided that bathroom scales were possessed by the devil and would not get on them.

I avoided cameras, but I had a picture taken of me letting my nephew's kids ride our llama.  I was as big as the llama.  That really opened my eyes as to just how big I had become.  So thus began my journey...
