Rebecca, I was on Celebrex for about a year prior to my RNY for degenerative arthritis in my hips. I was so scared to come off the Celebrex, because it was such a miracle, but I weighed my options, and my decision had to be to have the surgery, even though it meant I couldn't take Celebrex (or any NSAID meds) for the rest of my life. Well, 8 months later, 100 lbs. down, and I am doing just fine. The only time I have pain comparable to pre-surgery is when it's getting ready to rain or snow, and some Tylenol is enough now to deal with it. I don't have pain on a regular basis anymore (taking 100 lbs. off those hips probably has something to do with it) and I'm okay. Hope this helps you.
