One Month Checkup

May 30, 2012

Today I went to see my surgeon for my one month visit.  I was down 18 lbs and have really been struggling as I have been thinking all along it should be more.  My doctor then says that for a "person like me" I should be down a good 28 lbs at this time.  I thought I was going to cry right there.  I posted on OH and felt much better as I received a lot of positive feedback.  One thing that was said to me that really stuck was that if I keep loosing at this rate, i will be down 100 lbs (giver or take) in 5-6 months.  I nevere really thought about it that way and will now try to focus more on the bigger picture, overall weight loss and getting healthy for me and my family.  I feel good overall, and I feel good about the food choices that I am making.  Some may say that my calorie intake (800-950 a day) is way too high, while others will say it is too low.  Here is how I am looking at it - before surgery I was probably eating anywhere from 300-1000 in one meal, depending on where I was eating and what I was eating.  I tried to eat "healthier" for years before my surgery, but it just wasn't enough.  Some may also say that eating 6-8 ozs is too much, but prior to surgery I was eating multiple cups, not ounces of food.  So again, I think I am doing pretty good.  I may still need advice on things to eat, but I will get there - I believe I will.
