My story...I'm fat.

Let's see, there might be more, but it comes down to one thing, I'm fat.  My friends reading this would say, you're not fat...and then try to find a much nicer euphemism.  But, I'm not delusional.  This is November 20, 2008, and I weight 261 lbs.  My highest weight has been 265, that was in 2001 when I decided it was time to make a change.  I started going to the gym seven days a week, stopped going to McDonalds, stopped drinking soda, stayed away from bread, and smoked like a chimney.  I dropped 65 lbs in 6 months.  I was feeling great...I could go hiking, cycling, walking and running....I even went to Scotland for vacation.  I was comfortable in the airplane seat and didn't have to ask for a seat belt extension.  I managed to maintain my weight for over a year and then I started cheating...stopped going to the gym so often...started eating chocolate again.  So, I decided to stop smoking - good for my lungs bad for the rest of me...lol.  I put on 30 lbs in the first year.  I managed to maintain that weight and then tried to lose weight again....increased my exercise, etc, but I managed to tear the cartilage in my knee.  This of course led to not exercising and boredom, which led to eating and more chocolate.  You know the cycle...so here we are.

My new life will start Tuesday, November 25, when I undergo Roux-en-Y bypass surgery. I hope to keep up with this profile and update my progress; however, I was never very good at keeping a diary as a kid. Please check back and see how things are going. Please send an email or select me as a friend…I love to read how others are doing and I especially love the inspirational before and after pics!
Take care and see you soon!
