I looked at my labs and found out I now have pre-diabetes and anemia!  Well kiss my grits!!!  Maybe that's why I've been so dang thirsty and tired all the time!  I also just found out that my suspicions about another coworker having RNY are correct. She is out a week and a half ahead of me and she is my back up at work so we are BOTH out at the same time for the same surgery. I already told a supervisor at work about my RNY so it won't be long before the whole office knows. I wonder how long she will try and keep her surgery a secret? I'm planning on telling anyone and everyone!

I had my preop appointment today and everything went great. Had about 7 vials of blodd drawn, a normal EKG and other fun stuff. My weight on 'thier' scale was 273. MY scale says 268.   They said we are now going by their scale so when I weigh at home I need to add 5 pounds. Anyway, now all I have to do is wait until next friday. Six days and a wake up.  I'm excited. 

February 4, 2011!!!!!   I will be going in on a Friday morning. AH, I only have 17 days and a wake up!  

Just heard a message that BCBS left on my machine yesterday after I left for work saying they mailed a letter that was "favorable" and if I wanted to discuss it to call them. I just ordered all my vitamins from Celebrate. This is REAL!!!!!!  AHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  I'm so happy and excited. I just updated my ticker with a goal weight of 145!  Can you freakin' believe THAT!!!

I found out yesterday by checking the SC BCBS website that I have been approved for a gastric bypass. It is covered 100% through the pilot program that was set up for 100 SC state employees. I really am still in shock. This is like winning the lottery. I was one of MANY people who was hoping for this and I ACTUALLY GOT IT!!!   My weight today is 266.6. UGH!  Anyway, I'll update again as soon as I hear from MUSC officially.

I can't sleep. I got home from work at around 1:30am and it's now 4:12am. I laid down with the kids but I got up, put on a little makeup and now I'm just waiting until 5:00 when my mom will be here to pick up me and Sarah. Isabel and Sofia will be going to school with their dad like usual but I won't be here to help Sofia get ready. I'm nervous. It's strange but I'm glad the band is coming out. I just need to remember this time before the next procedure is for healing the damage that the band has done. I feel a little nervous this morning too because this time around I don't have the added benefit of promised weight loss to look forward to when I wake up. Just wake up and, well, nothing. Go home and heal. I will be happy to be able to take pills again and to BURP!  hahaha. I have so much gas going out the other way I will be so happy to be able to burp again. That hasn't happened in 4 years.  I need to maintain my weight until January though. The state health plan in SC in offering 100 free gastric bypasses on a first come first served basis to those who work for the state and have a bmi of 40 or above. I don't want to gain a lot of weight but I just need to hold steady at 255. If I don't get the free surgery I will pack up and head to Mexico to see Dr. Alvarez and have the sleeve. I will have to finance that one so I will do whatever it takes and pray that I am one who gets the surgery paid here in Charleston. God, please let this surgery go smoothly this morning. I know general anesthesia will be hard on me but I just want to be back home already. I guess I will go now. I still have about 40 minutes and I need to just calm myself down. See ya on the other side...band-less.

I had a complete unfill yesterday. 2.7 cc's removed. I can eat better but still having pain. Septmeber 29, 2010 is my date to have this band out!!  I'm nervous to lose the band. It has swiftly kicked my butt a few good times and I really appreciate that. Especially when I wanted that big stack of pancakes and I PB'ed the first bite. I know without this band I will have to just say no to al the things I would have tried to eat and couldn't with the band. It was helpful and hurtful all at the same time. The doc's scale said I weighed 256. YIKES!  Last summer I was 213. He said that in January the SC state health insurance will open up 100 slots to state workers to get FREE  gastric bypass, band or sleeve and he will submit my info. Hopefully I will get approved, if not, I will be heading to Mexico for the sleeve this summer. It will give my tummy time to heal and then I can recommit to this WLS journey. It's been a crazy ride so far, it can only get better, right?

I have finally given in to the fact that the band was the worse mistake and I have wasted the last 4 years trying to make this work. At least I am satisfied that I gave it my all. I am now ready to have this thing out and ove on the the RNY that I should have done in 2006. I will be using Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I will update more as time goes on. 

I got a fill today. 1cc.  After gaining 25 pounds over the last few months with no fill, I am starting over. Trying to do it right this time. Weight on MY home scale. 241.6  Weight on surgoens scale 245.1

I saw Dr. Byrne yesterday and his PA Stefanie took all my fill taken out under fleuro. I have a dilated esophagus and severe reflux and I have to have the band taken out. He has done one VSG and told me this is a good option for me. I'm now researching the VSG. I have to have a manometry done and then see him again. I need to know how much he is going to charge and then I have to wait until at least February when my tax refund comes in. I don't think I'm too keen on the idea of him only having done ONE sleeve so I'm researching Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. My weight is 222 and I have NO FILL in my band.  I'll update after I get my test and see Dr. B again.
