RNY 10/25/10

I'm Amy, mother of 2 boys and married for 11 years.

I decided to have WLS due to the inability to control my weight, in part because of hypothyroidism. I wasn't as hugely obese as some, but not as small as others who have done it either.

I am 5'7" and at my lowest weight ever I was 128 lbs at 18 years old. I had my first son at 19 and my lowest weight after him was 154 lbs, which I was perfectly okay with. It wasn't until I had my second son in 2001 that my weight really began to be a problem. I weight 154 when I got pregnant with him and at delivery, I weighed 222 lbs. I was MORTIFIED. I tried to lose and got down to 181 lbs, but then my weight began crawling back up. By the time I decided to do WLS, I was weighing in at 283 lbs. I was no longer mortified, I was embarassed for my husband and kids to be seen with me, I was ashamed of myself and humiliated each time someone would stare at me if we went somewhere. I got to a point that I wouldn't look in the mirror to get dressed or to even make sure what I had on looked fine. I would ask my husband and kids if I looked okay.

As of today, I am 1 week post-op. I don't know if I've lost and if so, how much I may have lost. I hope to get alot of support here and eventually, be one of those experienced ones who can support others.

THANKS!
