Ahhhhhhhhhh vacation!

Jun 25, 2007

Hey everyone!  Just wanted ya'll to know my vacation in Houston was WONDERFUL!  I was nervous getting on the plane knowing how small the seats are.  It was a small plane, just 2 seats on each side.  I FIT!  YYAAAAYYYYYY!!!!  My knee's were touching the seat in front of me, but I could maneuver around etc and it was only an hour and a half flight.  I was soooooooo happy!  The vacation was awesome even though it rained pretty much from about an hour after I landed till the morning I left LOL....It was so nice to get away from it all, and my friends there kept me busy, laughing and smiling!  Then on the return flight, I knew it would be the same plane, so I wasn't scared.  I was amazed that this time when I sat down, my knee's weren't touching the seat in front of me, and my butt fit even better in my seat, so somewhere along the lines of just a few days I lost even more weight!  WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!  I think it was from the walking at the Atlanta airport.  I parked my car in economy covered parking and had to walk quite a ways to the terminal, then after checking in, the line for the security gates wrapped back around by the check in counters!!!!! And then came the walk to the gate which wasn't too bad.  The Houston airport was a shorter distance, but still a walk.  Then I got to do it all in reverse and ended up at a gate in Atlanta further away from the flight out, so that was quite a distance LOL.  I even had to walk up a couple flights of stairs, but did it!  (I thank God I had been doing tae bo and it has strengthened my knees so I was able to climb the stairs).  However, I didn't sweat at anytime at the airports!  Yaaaaaayyyy!!!  For the first time in my life, I wasn't ashamed of walking etc.  I also had to carry around my laptop which I brought with me, and it's about 7 lbs, and I DON'T have a wheeled case for it.  So that also helped lol.  I have my 3 month post op appt this Wednesday and am hoping I have hit the 100 lbs lost mark!  I will be a bit disappointed if I haven't as I've worked my butt off doing tae bo, eating right etc...Everyone pray for me.  Almost time for another photo!  Ugh...hopefully this one looks better and you can tell even more weight has dropped off!  LOL...Hope everyone is doing well and keeping me updated on their progresses!  Thank you for all the kind, wonderful, encouraging words!  God Bless everyone!

Update

Jun 13, 2007

Hey everyone!  I hope all is doing well with you!  Well, I had an appointment with my PCP on the 31st of May and I am still too heavy for regular scales. I know I am barely over the 350 lb mark though as I have lost 2 shirt sizes and 2 pants sizes.  I called the hospital and asked if their larger scale was fixed, and was told that they don't have a larger scale, and they apologized for whomever told me that they did.  GGGGGGRRRRRR...I'm upset that there is no where to go to weigh myself here in town.  But I know I am still losing inches as I can see and feel it.  I continue to do tae bo and feel soooo much better after doing it.  I can do the entire 27 mins of it now without problem even though I want to quit! LOL  (how many actually WANT to exercise?  NOT me, but I do it because I know I should!)  Last week I went grocery shopping by myself and took all the time I needed to check the labels of foods.  I even went to the diabetes part and picked up some lemon sugar free wafer cookies.  I only have one at a time though as I don't want to find out about dumping.  That's enough to cure my occasional cravings for sweet things.  I continue to fight my head hunger, but I know that's going to be for the rest of my life.  I try to make sure I have plenty of string cheese on hand when that happens, as that is good for me, I can take my time eating it, it fools my head into thinking I'm eating a lot, and it helps with my protein intake.  I have booked a flight to Houston to go and visit my friend there June 21-24, and am praying I have no problem fitting into the seat.  Part of me knows I will fit, but the other part still thinks I'm too fat for that.  I will be happy if I can occupy one space but need a seat belt extension. I still have about a week to drop some more weight, so I will push tae bo more.  It continues to get hot and now humid, so I am still eating less food and relying more on my protein powder added to drinks. I call my daughter everynight and continue to want to hurt her dad.  They continue to eat late (anywhere from 6- 8 pm at night) eat a lot of pizza (although my daughter claims she only eats one slice-- I HOPE so), and her dad's girlfriend takes her to Mcdonalds a lot...UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHH...I finally got on her dad the other night telling him that if she comes back with ANY extra weight she WON'T be coming out there next summer!  She worked TOO hard to get that weight off before she came there, and for her to yo yo up and down every single year is NOT good.  I then also said do you WANT her to suffer like you and I have?  He didn't say anything.  I'm hoping he wasn't ignoring me and was actually thinking about his daughter for once.  Well last night when I called, I found out that she finally did her tae bo (she had been doing crunches occasionally), AND her dad joined her!  LOL!  If I hadn't been sitting down, I would have fallen over!  I pray that he continues to help motivate her like that. I have my 3 month post op scheduled on the 27th of this month, so I will have actual weight to report then. I'm glad it is after my mini vacation, as I'm worried I will get discouraged if I find out I haven't lost as much weight as I WANT to have lost.  Well, that's pretty much what is going on. Keep smiling everyone, I do think of ya'll a lot and I do keep up with my messages on here!  Take care, thank you for all your support and God Bless everyone!

Still going and going and going and going LOL

May 28, 2007

Hey ya'll!  Just an update on my journey!  I continue to do my tae bo, even when I don't want to.  My daughter left for her father's in Colorado for the summer after turning 13 this past thursday.  I miss her so much but it will be ok.  This has to be done.  She needs to do this--it's all part of growing up and not having me "hover" around her all the time saying "study study study!"  lol  One great thing that happened over the weekend was on Saturday when I took my daughter to the airport.  Because she's underage, I have to take her to the gate which means walking.  Last year I dreaded this as anyone who has been to the Atlanta airport knows how huge it is.  I was swollen, it was hot, I was super sweaty, my hair was drenched, face super wet, I had to stop and rest a couple of times, and I was out of breath really bad.  This year, I had no problem walking, didn't have to stop and rest, wasn't soaked in sweat, wasn't out of breath, wasn't swollen, and my face was only misty...Yaaaaayyyyyyy!!!  That felt totally wonderful!  By the time I got back to my car, I was fine.  No problems!  I expected my feet and back to hurt the next a.m. like they did last year, but NOPE!  No pain!  Wooohoooo!  Talk about awesome!  What a little weight gone does!  I sure didn't have to do my tae bo that night as it took 30 mins just to get back to my car after the plane took off!  And it was a long way to the gate as well.  I even did a little shopping after I got back into town!  As it grows hot, it's harder to get my protein in as I have never felt like eating when the temp goes above 80.  However, I am now only taking 1 medicine, I used to be on 4.  I have my regular PCP appt on thursday and I'm not going to guess how much weight this time.  I know I've lost inches, so that's the main thing.  Hope everyone is doing well!  God Bless!

Lost 2 shirt sizes!

May 19, 2007

Just wanted ya'll to know that this past thursday I tried on some of my smaller shirts and found out that I have lost 2 shirt sizes!  Yaaaaayyy!!!!  Before surgery I was wearing 6X, now I wear 4X. I am too chicken yet to try on smaller pants, but that will come with time.  So even though I can't weigh myself at this time, I KNOW I'm still losing and also losing inches! It's awesome!  Seems my stomach now is where I lose most of my weight.  Now if I can just lose weight in my butt, hips and thighs I will be even happier!  It's nice to be on the road to liking myself!  (Can't wait till I love myself!)  Well hope everyone is doing great!  Take care and God bless!!!!

Just an update

May 16, 2007

Hey ya'll.  Just thought I'd give everyone an update.  I've not been able to weigh myself as the "normal" scales at the clinic here in town only go up to so much and I know I am still over that amount (not for long if I can help it though).  I even called the hospital knowing that most hospital's have a larger scale.  Guess what?  It's broken!  LOL  I can tell I'm losing inches and that is the most important thing.  I'm getting almost 100% of my protein in each day and I am still doing my tae-bo.  I can now do 98% of it and my daughter does it with me at night.  She has even lost about 2 inches on her waist and her clothes fit her even better now!  (She's 2 weeks away from turning 13) Last night she asked me if I could somehow make her a copy of the tae-bo tape so she could take it with her to her dad's for the summer!  How cool is that? I am still feeling GREAT and am planning a mini trip to Houston to visit a friend the end of June.  I want to be able to comfortably fit in the airplane seats, so I am working quite hard to get the inches/pounds off!  I still haven't even tried any candy or sugar etc. I also still thank God for this tool!  Hope everyone is doing well!  God Bless!

No chocolate cravings

Apr 28, 2007

I am amazed at how even after smelling chocolate, I do not crave it, nor do I want it.  I tried the soy veggie burgers last night....EWWWW Guess that is still the same...didn't like them before surgery still don't after surgery lol!  I have one more food I want to try--fish.  I have never liked fish, but I'm going to be brave and try it.  I ate some lettuce today.  OOOOOO it was so good to be eating that again.  Along with some tomatoe's.  Yumo!  I've missed those!  Also canteloupe and green apples (minus the skins at this point still) Can't wait till I can do oranges (have to be careful about citrus still) and strawberries (have to be careful about the little seeds).  All in due time!  I am going slow with the tae-bo, but at least I'm doing it everynight now.  I feel such a rush afterwards and because I do it at 9 pm. or 10 pm. I am able to get sleepy sooner and able to fall asleep sooner too.  Thank you God for allowing me to get this tool!  Woooohoooo!  (One thing I'm going to MISS so badly this summer is slurpee's [down south here they are called frozen drinks] Granted they are watered down drinks, however, they are loaded with sugar waaaaahhhhhh...)  Oh well, life goes on!  God bless everyone!!!!

Burn baby burn! Yah!

Apr 27, 2007

I did find my tae-bo tape last night.  WHEW!  I could only do almost half of it, BUT I felt soooooo good afterwards.  It felt awesome to be able to do it again and not be so out of breath!  Can't wait to do it again tonight and everynight to see how I can progress and get up to doing the entire 27 mins of it!  Remember now this is the ORIGINAL tae-bo tape.  I do have Billy Blanks boot camp and want to get his new tae-bo dvd's, however those will be as I get stronger etc.  I will tackle only one thing at a time.  I'm excited again!  Yeah!!!  God bless!

47 lbs total lost at 1 month post op

Apr 26, 2007

Well, I had my 1 month post op yesterday, and only lost 8 lbs for the past 2 weeks.  Was disappointed as I felt like I had lost way more than that.  I had expected at least 20 lbs.  I have lost weight, I do know that, but I can't tell much in the one month photos.  I do know I've lost more inches than weight these past 2 weeks, but still feel disappointed. I won't let it slow me down though and will start my original tae-bo tape tonight.  I'm going to get my metabolism going as I want that bigger number again dang it!  God bless everyone!

Made it through the liquid, puree`

Apr 20, 2007

It seemed like forever being on the clear liquid diet, and the full liquid/puree` diet.  I was tortured by either having sugary tasting protein drinks, or salty cream soups/broths.  That was a hard/long 3 weeks, BUT such a small price to pay.  I am now at the point where I can add one new food every few days and since I can have turkey, chicken which I love and will also have tuna occasionally, I will be able to get my protein in each day without having 3-4 nasty tasting protein drinks each day WHEW!  I am looking forward to this as a new adventure and have seen a lot of good in the south beach diet stuff.  Most of their items have a great deal of protein in it with low sat fat and 0 cholestrol.  I am going to see about getting the south beach diet cookbooks as well.  I have already gotten into the habit of checking labels for my daughter (she's 12), so it will be easier now to check labels before putting it in my cart.  I am also anxious to try tofu and even meatless sausage links etc. (So I can have the taste without all the bad stuff associated with it) Wierd but true.  My daughter has put up a bit of resistance to only eating serving sizes that are stated on the packages now, but I have warned her several times that obesity runs on both sides of her family and unless she wants to end up like me and needing this surgery, she needs to adjust her eating habits now before they get out of hand.  One thing that keeps resinating through my mind is back in Nutrition class before surgery, someone stated that they can't afford the "better for you/lean" food items as they are terribly expensive.  The Nutritionist shot back, you will after surgery because you won't be able to eat as much as you did before surgery.  That is so true!  It's going to be nice to see 100%healthy food in my kitchen and know that I kept within my budget buying it AND it's better for us!  I just feel totally awesome right now and can honestly say, that this isn't as hard as I thought it would be.  I started out worrying that I wouldn't be able to remember all that I learned before surgery, but after living it for 4 weeks (I started my 4th week, 2 days ago), it's become a habit--a GOOD one thank God!  I was able to get the Anywhey tasteless protein powder yesterday at GNC, and I put some in my crystal light tea at noon today.  I can still taste it, BUT it isn't sugary tasting and nasty like the other protein.  I also tried the already made Isopure protein drink yesterday, Icy Orange.  At first because it was super cold, it tasted good, then after about 5 sips, I felt like I had a film on my tongue, and it started giving me cotton mouth.  However, after it hit room temperature, it tasted like I was drinking liquid jello, and the cotton mouth went away.  But all in all, it still tastes better than the regular sugary protein powder.  So I will occasionally pick up a few bottles to give me variety. I have my month post op this coming Wednesday the 25th.  It's a meeting with the Nutritionist, and I'm anxious to see how much more weight I've lost.  I bought a bike this past week, and my daughter and I are going to go riding in the park tomorow.  She's beaming!  It's going to be nice to be able to get on a bike again and enjoy riding instead of dreading it!  I want to thank everyone that continue's to wish me luck, and thank you God for giving me a whole new life which I intend to enjoy and take care of!  God Bless everyone!

Pounds LOST!

Apr 10, 2007

Wooohooo!!!  I went to my 2 week post op appointment today (my actual 2 weeks technically isn't until tomorow, but the surgeon is only in the office on Tuesday's) and get this--is everyone sitting down?  LOL I lost (drum roll) 39 POUNDS!  TADA!!!!  I can't believe it, I feel so awesome and will already have to start altering my clothes.  I have had a few small things happen to me, however, they are a SMALL price to pay for this incredibly awesome tool.  I have cotton mouth everyday (yes I'm getting all my water in and I know that will disappear about 3 weeks out), I have this white stuff that has to be scraped off my tongue every few days with my toothbrush, (surgeon says it's normal and will go away and no it isn't thrush), I still can't sleep on my side, so I'm still sleeping in my livingroom chair with ottoman, and my taste buds are sick to death of sugary tasting or salty things.  It takes everything I have to keep the protein shake down each time I drink it, but I WILL continue to do it.  Other than that, WOOOHOOOO!!! I'm down 39 pounds!  YEAH BABY!!!  Ahem...sorry...excitement has crept in and I feel awesome!  Hope everyone else is doing well!
