Almost 3yrs..

Jan 16, 2010

Well it's been almost 3yrs since my surgery.Everyday I am grateful to God for giving me this new life. I weigh between 160&165lbs. I've been steady for a year. I am focusing on my vitamins right now and my Parathyroid which is going wacko since I'm not getting enough vitamin D or calcium. It really is so important to get the nutrients you need from supplements. I have found that Geritol liquid taken with a chewable Vitamin C really helps me with my iron. I became so weak that I was a zombie until I started taking Geritol.Vitamin C helps your body absorb the Iron..I'm constantly learning all the tricks.Usually by trial and error ..I also take a chewable calcium fortified with Vitamin D and a chewable multivitamin.
I am finding that my taste are ever changing. I love sushi now! I had never had it but began craving it and gave it a try ! Now I'm addicted !
I really work to increase awareness of the benefits of gastric bypass and to ensure that the environment is inclusive for people of all sizes at my job. Recently I noticed that there were not places for some of our very large employees to sit safely  and comfortably in our break areas.I spoke to our HR department a few times as well as to my manager and now we have benches in the hallways and in the breakroom ! It feels so good to make a difference. We all know what it feels like to go into an establishment and look for a seat that will accomadate our size. Table not a booth...will it hold me?..why do the chairs have to have arms??
I will never forget who I was at 330lbs. because I am still that person. I am still fighting for equality, inclusiveness and respect that people of all sizes deserve.
I have journeyed with some of my co-workers as they have gone through surgery.I have educated and supported them in everyway I can.I have gotten so much joy in watching them transform. One of my friend put away his walker and then gave up his cane. What freedom he has found in his new health! I thank God everyday for this surgery and pray that anyone who needs and wants it will have this same blessing that I have had.
We must keep fighting, praying and working !
