GOALS..............

Jul 02, 2010

Hey OH,

I was watching some youtube.com videos pertaining to WLS and the ppl either considering or are post op, etc.  I watched this video where there was a girl who listed some goals she would like to reach after having the WLS.  So i started brainstorming myself and here is what I came up with:

1.  Fit into rollercoaster rides and other amusements park rides w/o difficulty.

2.  Cross my legs both ways like a lady.

3.  Wear sundresses, lingirie, sexy costumes and other sexy clothing.  I would also like to wear sexy bathing suits without wearing a t-shirt to cover!!

4.  I want to wear stillettos and high heels without the fear of  falling down, or having pain when walking in them.

5.  Walk upstairs or up hillr or longer than 3 minutes without getting tired or winded!

6.  Paint my toenails w/o difficulty

7.  Do a split....lol...yes a split!

8.  Fit in an airplane seat without having to ask for a seatbelt extender.

9.  Feel comfortable and pretty when I go out.

10.  This probably should have been my #1 goal.....to get back to exercising and eating healthy

.....This is not all inclusive, I was brainstorming when coming up with my list, there will be times when I do add to this list and I do plan to put dates of accomplishments up as well......

Pre Op Visit

Jul 01, 2010

Hello OH,
Just wanted to touch basis with you all to let you know how my pre op visit went today.  I arrived and met with the coordinator (January).  We did paper work and I was put in an exam room and shortly thereafter saw the doc.  We talked about some things that need to be done prior to surgery and life and eating habits after surgery.  He was brief, but to the point and somewhat stern about doing as he prescibed.  None the less I did take his meaning and am looking forward the my change in life.  After speaking with the doctor he handed my paperwork back over to the coordinator she discovered I still need an EGD!  So now I am scheduled to have an EGD prior to surgery which I am ok with.  I also set my surgery date for October 8, 2010.  Prior to the surgery I will have to meet again with the doctor after the EGD for another pre op (#2) visit due to the time span from now until my surgery date.  Then two week prior to surgery I will have to go hard and drink protein only protein shakes (NO FOOD) until the day of surgery.  Protein shakes, water, crystal light and Popsicles.....lol!!!  I know that this is a life altering step I am about to make and there are guidelines that MUST be followed in order to have the ultimate results of having this surgery.  I have come too far now to mess up or just quit!  I need continued support, prayers, etc.  I will continue to update you all on my progress.  Until then....take care OH!

Hello OH.  Just wanted to update you guys on my progress toward my WLS.  I recently spoke with my doctor's coordinator and was informed she had sent in my info to the insurance company for an approval!  I immediately got nervous but she then told me that they had responded shortly after that to inform of additional info needed for a decision.  They stated they needed an additional 2 years of documented obesity from a previous physician.  She said she had faxed over requests to my previous OB office and another doctor's office for the request and a week had gone by without response.  I took the liberty of calling both doctor's office to check up on the requests and was told by one of my previous doctor's office they MAILED my documents!!!  OMG What!!!  So I contacted the other office (my OB) to check up on the request.  Mind you it has been a week since the initial FAXED request was sent.  I spoke to the office staff who then stated they never got it.  I went back and forth with the OB office staff and my coordinator and with persistence and calling and getting on the OB office staff nerves....it was finally faxed this past Thursday to the coordinator who was able to fax the requested info over to the insurance company the same day.  I am again feeling mixed emotions and am on pins and needles awaiting the decision.  Please all of you reading this keep me in your prayers, and feel free to comment. This winner plans to be sitting on the losing seat very, very soon!!

MY INTRO...

Jun 11, 2010

Hello everyone my name is Deidre and I am on a journey to lose my weight. I have two children. I a little boy, 4 y/o and a little girl 3 y/o. Since giving birth to my daughter December 2006 and a divorce, I have gained about 75 or more pounds. I have been heavy all my life. My current BMI is 62.9, I am very tired all the time and it has taken a toll on my body and self esteem. I don’t like going out doing anything because I get tired very quickly and I'm often embarrassed of the way I look. I need to make a change for me mainly my health. I have high blood pressure, GERD, and I’m experiencing sleep apnea and so many other problems due to my weight gain. I have tried every weight loss plan known to man. I find myself in a never ending vicious cycle where I will drop the pounds then I will gain even more back. I have been trying to lose weight since I can remember. I had been sold on the WLS procedure for many years and started my research back some time ago but was always plagued w/insurance issues. This time around I finally have an insurance that does cover the procedure and I began looking into the lap band procedure and have decided to pursue it. It was when I had my first appointment with Dr. Ricardo Bonnor (Texas Endosurgeons) that he advised me that the lap band would not be a good choice for me due to my weight. He said I was too heavy for the lap band and that it wouldn’t benefit me in my weight loss. He said that I wouldn’t lose much weight with it. He did suggest that I have the actual RNY procedure (laparoscopic). So listening to the doctor I went with the RNY. Currently, I’m in the process of getting paperwork together for my insurance company (Aetna POS).   And I had some visits with a nutritionist and my PCP to do along with a psych eval and some other testing. I want to be healthy and to see my kids grow to be adults. I think that I have made a good decision to pursue WLS procedure. I have contemplated it and researched it of a long period of time. And I think now is the time or never. Never is not an option with the goals and aspirations I have. If you have viewed my before pics, you see that I am a plus sized model, I am also an aspiring singer, and I also possess the talent to do Sisterlocks (www.sisterlocks.com).   My highest weight last I checked was 378 lbs. My  goal is 190 lbs. I also know to obtain this weight and maintain it or lose more, I have to learn and adapt to a more heathier lifestyle. My Dr. was good about explaining that WLS is not a cure all one time fix cure to weight loss. It is merely ONE of the many tools that will aide you in weight loss and a healthier way of living. I AM MORE THAN READY!!! LOL! You guys…..Wish me luck, keep me in your prayers, send me encouragement, etc. I am really needing this. I have heard many great things about the people on this site and can’t wait to experience. I will definitely do my best to keep you guys updated and of my progress.
