9-22-06 I am now 2.5 weeks post op. I feel wonderful, down 10lbs. I try to drink all that water, but it is hard!! I do get my protien in, thank goodness. I have minimal soreness at surgery sites now and I get around great. If anyone has a good recipe for a protein drink that tastes any kind of good, please email me!! I wish I had one to share! I am back at work as of the 18th and I get a pretty good workout here. More later

10-3-06 correction to the weight under the photo, it should be 270 lbs! I am now at 260!! yeah!! I have been struggling lately. I have been released to eat phase 3, which includes most foods and I am not doing well with much. I cant eat seafood!! The only time I have thrown up is after eating fish. I hate that, and love fish!! I try not to drink when I eat, but its real hard. Folks are noticing my 20 lbs loss and it feels great. Only 2 days short of 4 weeks post op. I am off all my meds except thyroid. NO diabetes, no hi blood pressure, excellent cholesterol level. I am so happy! I struggle with exhaustion. I have now been released to exercise, but I am not motivated to do so yet. What can I do for that? I still dont sleep well at night. Dr. Patel gave me Ambien, and I dont want to take it every night, so I do the best I can. I will try to update in 2 weeks.

10-10-06 still having problems keeping things down. seems like when I was 2 weeks out I could eat easily, and now I cant. Folks are telling me that is normal. I am ready for that to pass. The weight is not coming off as fast as it is for others I have read about. I think it is because of my thyroid, since I had hyperthyroidism before surgery and probably still do. I think I am getting most of the fluid in that I should, I certainly work hard at it. I am only down 28 lbs. so far. :(

8 weeks post op,  down 42 lbs.  I know I am losing slower than some because I cannot get enuff protien in!!   I try, but I hate those drinks and I drink them and back they come, no matter how slow or how small the sip.  I cant take em.  I eat jerky and try to eat veggies and chicken, turkey, bacon.  Nothing, and I mean nothing stays down and I know I follow all the rules.  Folks say this will pass, and I cant wait.

I read the posts religously so I know I am one of those that has trouble for the 1st 3 months.  I havent exercised as much as I thought I would.  I have too much pain in my hips.  Probably caused by some kind of deficiency.  I will find out at my next checkup.  I started on chewable calcium citrate, and they feel better today.  If anyone is following my journey.... please tell me how you manage to get protien down if you dont drink the shakes/drinks!  I cannot stand Isopure, whey, etc....right now they do not settle well.  Some time ago I could drink milk, but now, no way!!  I am starting to be discouraged because I didnt go thru this just to be a different kind of unhealthy!

Well I have to eat my words!  I am down 75 lbs now.  I can eat better.  I just needed to follow the rules more closely.  I did find out the reason for all the body pain was a high hormone level.  They reduced my thyroid medication by half and that seems to have made all the difference!!  I still eat very little, but alot more often.  I dont fool with the protien drinks at all.  I just eat stuff that is high in protien several times a day.  When I do that I lose alot.  My BMI now is 36!  from 286 to 211.  Isnt that exciting.  So much energy!!  I dont have enough waking hours in the day to do all I want to do.  I tried Soy milk and that is pretty good.   I can now drink small qty's of skim milk without too much problem, thankfully.   my hair is falling out like crazy.  normal I am told...but I sure do hate that!!  my hair is way too thin as it is!  but maybe it will come back luxurious and healthy at some point.  Small price to pay in the grand scheme of things thats for sure.

5-4-07

Well....what can I say.  I have lost 110 lbs now.  My hair is so thin and pathetic looking but I hope that passes soon as the Doc said it would.  I am eating much better now.  Rarely get sick, but it still happens from time to time.  I have enjoyed my journey thus far, and so glad that I did it.  I never thought I would weigh 170 again in this lifetime.  My goal is 150 so 30 more to go.  Wish me luck!!  These last 30 will probably be tougher to go.  I dont care.  if i stay like this the rest of my life I feel blessed.  I work out religiously!  I love to exercise now.  My family and friends are so proud of me, as I am for myself.  Anyone can email me anytime, I am happy to help or listen.

9-1-08

I have consistently stayed at 170,  but I did it on purpose because my husband likes me this way.

On 9-23-08  I have my panniculectomy.  I am curious , as well as a little frightened.  Not exactly excited about the pain I may experience.  Although, some have had it done with no problems, very little pain.  Well I guess I will see first hand.  I keep thinking this has been a breeze thus far, I keep thinking what if this is the time its not a breeze.  LOL   Anyway,  I really dont have a huge apron, but the insurance is paying for it 100%, so why not, right?
Seriously, they are.  I might have some out of pocket with the hospital, but havent found that out yet.  They told me 2 hrs procedure time and 2 hours recovery and then I am at home.  Isnt that bizarre???

I havent been very good about getting on here, and I want to say I will, but I may not.   :)  Wish me luck, if ever anyone is reading this.  ha ha
