Green Smoothie " The Chimpanzee Diet " or "The Gorilla Diet"

I eyeball everything and if i make a lot...  i pour it in different glasses put plastic over the top and stick it in the fridge.  Its good for 3 days but I always drink my extra green smoothie the same day  or until the following day. 

Green Smoothie:
Kale   ( always)

Spinach ( always)

Collard Greens  ( always )

Arugula  ( sometimes )

parsley  ( always )

Cilantro  ( always)

Celery  ( always and a stalk)

Carrot tops ( always lately)

Beet tops  ( when i have them  )

Bok choy  ( sometimes )

Romaine Lettuce  ( a leaf and occasionally)

Daikon Radish ( sometimes for a little radish spice..  only a little piece, its strong)

Alkaline Water   ( use distilled next best..  or then just use any water )

1 apple unless I am making a big batch

1 banana unless I am making a big batch

Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade  ( something I do and i have posted before)

Protein powder

ice cubes to chill the drink  ( not to a slushie consistency, just to chill)

Avocado lately gives it a creamy texture.  you have to drink it without the avocado to
                 appreciate the texture the avocado gives.

The green apple and banana acts like a sweetener.

I use a "Vitamix Blender"  it blends well, not like a regular blender.  BUT if a regular
blender is all you have...  USE IT!


The human jaw cannot chew and break down the greens to release and break down the
cells in greens.  By blending it, it chews the food for you, you get your veggies in,
the most important thing, it releases and breaks down the cells so your body gets
more of the minerals and vitamins. the human jaw cannot or isn't strong enough to
chew to the consistency the greens need to be in when going through the digestive
process and give us its accurate minerals and vitamins.  Blend Blend Blend!

Did you know Greens are a protein?   Yep they are!  its just the FDA doesn't recognize
it as a protein...   BUT GREENS ARE PROTEIN!!!!!

Did you know that carrot tops and beet tops have more vitamins and minerals than the root
itself?   its true...   So I add both to my smoothie sometimes.


All what I just wrote, I have done it all in one drink.  or you can leave some
ingredients out if you wish.

I crave greens, my hands look younger and healthier.  my hair shines more,  Definitely not constipated,  its a detox, it makes me have energy and a clear mind, my cravings for fatty foods and like chips and crackers are gone and  so much more.  I actually salavate for greens!!!

PS:....    If your making a big batch, you want to add more green apple and banana.
You can also use Pears or Kiwi or any other mild acidic fruit.


Remember the fruit acts like a sweetener because greens taste bitter.  Make it sweet
enough through the banana etc to make it palatable!

I dont crave alot of junk when I drink smoothies. I also salavate for greens!!!

Lost 2 / 3 rds of my weight

Happy 4th of July! 

I just realized I lost 2/3rds of my weight.  How CQQL is that!
Wow I just have tears in my eyes.  My whole life and attitude has
changed.

For me in my journey, I needed Bariactric Support Groups, OA, My therapist
and some food feelings groups I have attended.

I never want to be in that obesity hell whole again.  I was dying...slowly commiting
suicide and didnt even know it. 

I am very grateful today.....   I would do this again and again and again in a heart beat.

5 Months Today!! 1st 5K Run Accomplished Yesterday!!!

Today is my 5 month surgiversary!!! yaaaaaaaaaaay!!!   VSG has changed my life in its entirety!
I have more self esteem, self confidence, out of depression, love myself today....  wow I feel Grrreat!!!

This last month I lost 6 pounds exactly. This last month was the least amount of weight I lost.
I had to admit I felt frustrated and didnt understand why.  I can tell you this....  This month I lost
the most inches out of all other months.  It was shocking.  In the beginning of the month I could not
put on these jeans over the beginning of my thighs.  last week I could wear them no problem, yes tight.
This week they fit perfectly.  I truly believe my body remembers this weight.  Looking back I was this weight
for sometime.  Also I think my body is adjusting. Also My food plan has changed intaking more greens and fiber.
I am still within caloric range.

Yesterday was my 1st 5K, and I finished!  It was held  at Harbor City, Kaiser Health Fair.  It was the most rewarding
feeling and yes I got choked up and cried.  Just 5 months and a day ago, I could barely stand on my feet for more than
2 1/2 hours in a day without limping, feet hurt, legs hurt etc..   Today I can say I can baby jog and walk a 5K and still feel good.

4 months and a week photo

This is my 4 month and a week photo.
I am grateful for my sleeve.  this month I experience
slipping with experimental food and stress eating.
Today I am back on track and feel good. Overall I
really didnt do bad.  Just wont do it again right now..maybe later.
before surgery I ate worse.....

What I thought I gained, I lossed.  The thing I learned most this month,
 I am starting to use discipline with this VSG. it doesnt come freely
with restriction like the beginning for me.  Diets were hard before surgery
and much easier with the sleeve

4 Months Today

Today is my 4 Months!  It feels good! Although  I didnt make my 10 pounds this month in weight loss, I still lost 9.7 pounds
and am totally happy about my success.  Yep super close!!!  Looking at this month, I am eating more food compare to the previous months. I have two more months left of this honeymoon stage ( the first 6 months), so I really want to take advantage of this before my weight loss really starts slowing down. I am still very grateful for this process and would do it all over again in a heart beat! 

This has been an amazing journey.  I have a new Food Buddy Angel
which helps a lot. We both track our food in myfitnesspal.com
We email each other our food plan daily without a doubt!!!!

I get to look at my food at night. I also see the types of foods I choose based
on my feelings for the day.  We talk about our feelings and its pretty cool.

I encourage you all to get a food buddy.  It helps!!!!!

 I am 189.6 and in "Happyland 80`s"  Woot Woot! Who would have THUNK!  Wow   hitting me like a ton of bricks with excitement right now. 

Here is the bummer part, We had a birthday party with family for my son this past tuesday. Yes I ate mexican food not only one day but 3 days in a row. Wow the salt, not to talk about the food cravings that came back just for having the crap back in my body.
Well the 1st day I found out that I can eat a cup to a cup and half of food!   What a mind F* that was.   I now know I can eat that much....ummm "SCAREY"!!!!

FOR ME:   I now have to work on discipline and remember to continue to measure my food and not over eat like that meaning volume until maybe maintenance. Its way different than when I first had surgery and the restriction was soaring with barely any effort.  I can drink through a straw, I can take two pills at once ( just the other week I wrote a post how I can barely swallow a half of a pill) I can actually swallow several drinks of water at once, I chew gum, etc....    So its like I am at a turning point, a decision in which way to go.  er um duuuuh....  "continue this path and dont screw up!"  I guess this is the point where some could gain weight and that is within me.  That is my fear and do not want to act on it.   Daaaam my freaking head!!!!

Well, I didnt do this surgery for nothing and want to respect the sleeve.  I am going to stick with measured food one day at a time.
So, I had a little test...  big deal ( well it is and going to act light of it so my head can recover. I can beat myself up pretty good!)....    So, its back to basics  :))))) 

Yaaaaay for me being in the 80`s!!

3 Month NUT visit and labs

I went to my 3 month visit with the NUTS on May 3rd ( today is Cinco de Mayo ..May 5th, 2011). 
Both my nuts said I can eat a cup to a cup and a half  of food with 1200 calories being the caloric intake.
I actually am not going to do that yet.  I will stick with  800 calories and if sometimes I do 900
I am ok with it.

They say our first 6 months is the honeymoon stage where we lose our most weight.  I want to take
the most advantage of this stage since I am half way there before it slows down.

I looked online and my labs came back great.  I was told to cut down on some vitamins because I was
taking too much.    Other than that everything went well.

3 Months Out Today - My 3 Month Surgiversary

Today is my 3 Months out. I lost 10.6 this last month. Ending weight last night was 193.2.
I am so grateful, feeling more confident, and have Faith today.   Thank you Dr. Mun!

1/2 way to goal! 55 pounds lost

I am feeling excited!  As of today I lost 55 pounds and have 55 pounds to go!
Yeaaaaah! MeeeeeEEEeeeEEEeeee!

Truly I am grateful to have this "opportunity"  and to have been "approved" to have this tool, "The Sleeve!"
It has changed my life.  Dr. Mun is a wonderful ...excellent surgeon! 

I am like in WOW!!!!   I lost 55 pounds and I have 55 to go?  who would have think this was going
to happen to me?  If I can do 55... I can do another 55!!!


PS:
I stayed on food plan Easter ( yesterday) and I am very proud of myself....
