feeling better on day 7 post-op

May 29, 2010

Well i think everything has gone as planned, the pain was minimal and sleeping in the recliner has gotten old and I plan on sleeping in my bed is starting tonight. I was left with two drain tubes and they seem to be my focus now and looking forward to Tuesday to have them removed, I am more uncomfortable being limited to daily task and find it harder to adjust to liquids only while not able to do much, too much idle time. But I know this is part of the recovery and the first chapter in this new book I have checked out of God's library.

I have been taking all of my supplements, and mean I am loaded with more good stuff than ever. I have been getting all of my water in take, even a little more than directed, including protein drinks with no problems. Post-op day six I even introduced a pouched egg and some rice pudding with no problem. I have exhausted all the build up gas with regular bowel movements and I am surprised how my mental state has stayed positive through out this process.

I did cheat and had a boiled shrimp that my wife was eating, even though I only chewed it and then spit it out, It removed the temptation and satisfied the taste buds. It does not feel like I am deprived of anything and I feel satisfied and it seems as if my hatred of food and what it does to my body is starting to fade away. I am thankful to be able to find some peace with my food addiction and with God's help I can make it each day!
