gonnabethinfinally

My story sounds like every other person on here really.  I have been overweight for as long as I care to remember.  I have a great husband and son.  I have a great family that is very supportive.  I have a job that I love  and friends that I work with are very supportive of me and my decision to have WLS, they are always reminding me to eat a snack etc.  I have already started changing the way I eat so I will be in the habit of eating 6 times a day.  I already drink lots of water, and I don't drink soda.  Sweets are not a problem for me so I guess thats a good thing.  I looked into surgery a couple of years ago and the center I went to was not very helpful and I was not impressed.  I basically had to schedule tests etc myself and when my insurance denied the request for surgery all they told me was well write an appeal letter and let it go at that.  They were not supportive, they did nothing to help me with the insurance or anything else.  I got so discouraged I just gave up.  And that means the insurance company won....they got what they wanted.  But I didn't.  I found another surgeon through someone at work.  His wife had the lap band and she recommended Dr. Tom Sonnanstine @ St. Luke hospital in northern Ky.  So I made an appointment and I was so impressed with him and his staff that I knew I had to have him do this surgery.  He has gone all over the world training other doctors to do the lap band and bypass.  He is one of the kindest doctors I have ever met.  He treats you like a person and not a second class citizen that is beneath him.  I am looking forward to this journey and finally being healthy again.  Also, I would like to thank all the people on this website for posting your stories.  I know you know how much this helps people like myself who are just beginning this process and everyone has been so kind answering questions and sharing.  Thanks!
