7 months out, 115 lbs down, and oh yeah, IM PREGNANT!!!

Aug 09, 2009

oops!  We are very excited!  All my vitamins are great.  It's a little early, I was supposed to wait until a year out.  But, I know everything will be fine.  I am weighing around 218.  My weightloss has slowed down a lot.  But, I will exercise, and eat right, and try not to gain too much during my pregnancy.  I am hoping it wont be too hard to lose the baby weight this time around.  Things are going great, my life couldnt get much better!  I am so glad I had Gastric bypass!

Almost 5 months out, 100 lbs lighter!!!

Mar 29, 2009

Well as of 5-21-09, I have lost 100 lbs!  I can't believe it sometimes.  Me and my hubby are either going to Branson MO to Silver Dollar City, or Magic Springs in Hot Springs AR.  I am going to an amusement park and for once, I will be able to fit on all the rides!!!  I feel so much better healthwise, but my back still bothers me a great deal.  I put a new pic up too!  This surgery has saved my life in more ways than one.  I feel sexy now.  I can feel my bones.  My sex life is tons better.  And I am never hot anymore, I am always freezing, BUT I love EVERY minute of it! Take Care everyone!  XOXO Amanda

I hate stalls...

Feb 27, 2009

Well, I'm down 62 lbs now.  I am 8 weeks out and have been on a minor stall the past couple of weeks.  I have'nt been exercising 5 days a week, but I really try hard to make it to the gym 3 days a week.  I play basketball sometimes too.  Spring will be here in 3 weeks!!!  I am gonna start getting outside a lot more in a few weeks when it warms up, maybe plant some flowers.  I feel great though!  I have been taking my vites, b-12, iron and calcium faithfully.  I have'nt had any problems with any of the foods I have eaten.  Well, thats all to report now...Goodnight!

My Surgery Experience

Feb 10, 2009

We left the house around 5 am Dec 31st 2008, and I had to be there at 6:30 am.  My best friend and hubby went with me. I got there and got lost in the hospital of course!  We finally found the pre-op area, and they weighed me and took me to my room.  My Nurse asked me to strip down and put a hospital gown on, and she would be back to start the IV.  So, I got into my gown and got into bed and got comfortable.  A different nurse came in and started my IV, without a hitch!  No pain at all getting it in, but she did numb it first.  Me, hubby, and bestie were taking pictures with my camera. Dr. Roller came in to check on me.  He said there was a guy before me,and I was 2nd to go.  So we waited and waited and the nurse finally came back in to tell us there was an emergency and I would be delayed.  This really made me NERVOUS!  But finally, at around 10:30 am, they came and gave me he happy medicine, and took me to the OR.   All I remember is scooting over on the operating table and then they put the mask over my mouth and I woke up in recovery.  I guess I was moaning or making a face, because as I woke up, I heard the nurse ask  me what was wrong and where I hurt.  I remember saying, "pain, nausea!"  Then she started shooting me up with the good stuff.  I had to go to ICU because of my sleep apnea, and I got in my room around 2 pm.  It sucked because my hubby could only come for 30 mins every 2 hours.  I pushed my morphine button so many times in an hour, it started beeping, but it can't give
you more than so much.  It's pre-programmed.  Then I started breaking out and itching all over, and the next morning, we figured it was the morphine.  So, they switched me to dilauded.  BUT, I did'nt get to take any of it, because my IV infiltrated, 3 times!  They stuck me 5 times and still could'nt get a vein, so Dr. Roller switched me to liquid lortab.  That stuff was stout!  By this time I was moved to my private room.  The next day was Friday, Jan 2nd 2009, and I got to go home.  The first 3 days were the worst for the pain.  I only took like 3 painpills at home.  And the first 2 weeks were the toughest food wise.  Well, thats my surgery experience.  The staff and hospital were great!  And Northwest Medical Center in Springdale has the best beef broth ever! LOL Dr. Roller was awesome and I would reccomend him to ANYONE!  OH yeah, he said my surgery only took 1 hr 7 mins!

12-19-08

Dec 19, 2008

I had my pre-op with Dr. Roller on Tuesday.  It was fun and exciting.  I did find out I have a hiatal hernia, which Dr. Roller said he could fix.  My B-12 was a lil low for his liking, but not off the charts low.  Wendy gave me a B-12 shot.  Dr. Roller also met with 4 of us that are going to be having surgery, and went over the surgical consent, and answered any and all of our questions.  I have never had a Doctor that cared so much.  You can tell he really loves hos job.  He was with us for over an hour going over everything and answering our questions.  I got my pre-op bloodwork done, and I LOST 6 LBS in 2 weeks!  I just changed everything to sugar and fat free and exercised.  I can't wait until the 31st gets here!  I have to be at the Hospital at 6:30 am.  That means we will have to get up at 4 am, since we live a lil over and hour away from Northwest Medical Center.  Only 12 days away!!!

I finally got a date!

Barium Swallow...Check!

Nov 24, 2008

Well I switched to Dr. Josh Roller.  The other Doc I had was wanting a 10,000 up front, even though I have insurance, and they were not going to do a barium swallow or anything, and I have GERD, so I needed to be checked for ulcers and hiatal herneas.  I had my barium swallow today.  That was very tramatic.  That barium crap was the most nastiest thing I have ever had to drink.  I still feel sick and nauseated and have all day.  And I have been having diarhea all day. It's like liquid and white.  Sorry I know TMI but I just want newbies to know what it is like at least for me.  I almost barfed several times and could'nt get the thick barium down.  I only fot a few swigs down, but I was dry heaving and swallowing it back down, so she said to stop.  Then I had to lay down on the XRAY table on my belly and drink more thinner barium while they took pictures, and I almost barfed again.  I had to do it though for surgery.  Now, I am just waiting for a call to get my pre-surgery appt. with Dr. Roller.  I am finally getting somewhere!  More later!  Amanda

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oct 17, 2008

After 5 years, and fighting with several different insurance companies through various jobs, I have finally been approved!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!  After 2 denials and my 2 appeals! I wrote my own appeal letters because my surgeon does'nt get involved in the appeals. I faxed them my sleep studies proving I have sleep apnea, and in less than a day I was finally approved. Im in shock right now, I just don't know what to say except thank you all for your support, encouragement(sp), and prayers!!!  It has meant more to me than anything.  This site has been my support group for the last 5 years because my sugeon and support group are 3 hours away.  I truly believe that all your prayers had something to do with my getting approved.  Thanks OH Family!  I am on cloud 9 right now.  Kim from my HR Dept. called me to tell me the good news. I don't have a date just yet, my surgeons office called today, and said they will call me next week with a surgery date. I am praying for everyone out there that is waiting for approval and that have been denied.  If you are pre-op, don't ever give up and fight for your life because insurance companies want you to give up! I know it is a long hard battle with the insurance company, I have been fighting with different ones through the years.  I can't wait to start my journey!  Much Love, Amanda H.
