Update...
Jan 14, 2008
I realize that I haven't been posting very often. I will try to do better in the future. I haven't really weighed myself since I went to the doctor on 12/26, so I don't have much to report on that front. I am scared to try on my sz 18 pants for fear that they won't fit yet. I feel like I have been wearing a sz 20 forever now! I also have not taken any pictures of myself since 11/2 which was right before my 2 month surgiversary. I can't believe it has been over 2 months since then. The time is flying!
I have been semi stressed out since my parents and my little sister have been staying at my house for the past month. They bought a new mobile home and had some issues getting it set up and ready for them to move into. It FINALLY passed inspection last Wednesday and the electric company came out on Friday to turn their lights back on. Yay!!! I love them, but I am so glad that they started staying at their house this weekend.
I have gotten on my scale at home, but it never matches what the doctor's says. At the doctor's office I weighed in at 232, but on my home scale it says 239. I know it is wrong, but I keep hoping that it will change. I am trying not to make myself crazy with it though.
Another thing I have noticed that I have been doing lately is eating a lot of crackers. I love to eat wheat thins and the little peanut butter ritz crackers. I usually snack on those in the evening b/c I just want something to crunch on. Hopefully I will break myself of this habit soon.

Happy New Year!!!
Jan 02, 2008
Well, I had a weigh in on December 26 and was down to 232. I really hope that I am under 200 by Spring Break in March. I know that I am doing well, but I read other people's blogs and what not and then I feel like I am losing really slowly. Technically I am on the slow side of my doctor's weight loss chart, but as long as I am still in the normal range I can deal. I hit my goal of losing 50 lbs by the end of December, but I cannot fit into my sz 18 jeans yet. Shirts, yes, but pants no. Hopefully I will be there in the next month or so. Wish me luck!!
3 month checkup on 12/10/07
Dec 12, 2007
So I had my 3 month follow up w/ Dr. J's office on Monday. I am down a total of 46 lbs. It is not the 50 that I hoped for, but close enough! :) I am still wearing 20s in pants, but they are getting more and more comfortable/loose. My shirts are 18/20 and are fitting just right for me. I am so happy!! Hopefully I will be wearing a sz 18 in a few weeks. I really wish that I had measured myself in the beginning, but I didn't have a tape measure and when I did get one I figured it was too late. I also need to remember to take a pic of myself this month, especially since I forgot to take one at my 2 month surgiversary. Still no ill feelings from the surgery. Everything is going GREAT!!!
Still moving on...
Nov 30, 2007
Well, now I am wearing sz 20. I am down to 1 pair of work pants and several pairs of jeans that I have not been able to wear since I bought them. I am not sure how much I have really lost b/c I keep being weighed on scales other than my surgeon's scale. According to my PCPs scale on Monday (11/26) I weighed 245 which means that I am down 40 lbs from my all time high. Yay!!!!
Things...
Nov 20, 2007
I wonder sometimes if I am going to sabotage my surgery by some of the things I have eaten. Sometimes I feel like I eat a TON of food at one time. For instance, I had some egg drop soup (the whole little cup) and a southwest eggroll on Sunday night. I have also eaten 2 pieces of Gordon's fish filets at one meal. I will try to do better from now on.
Meanwhile, on to some good news!! :)
ALL of my 22s are too big. Unfortunately, my one pair of size 20 jeans are still a bit snug for my comfort in the gut area. Hopefully that will change in the next couple of weeks. My short term goals are to lose 50 lbs by my 3 month appointment on 12/10 and/or be wearing a sz 18 in Lane Bryant jeans. I hope it happens!!!

Still going smoothly

I am now out of my 24s completely, and most of my 22s are loose. Some more so than others, but at least they are loose. I am so happy that I had WLS!
Endo appointment weight
Nov 08, 2007
Okay. I went to my endocrinologist on Tuesday for my 3 month A1C appointment. When I went at the beginning of August my A1C was more than 11%! That is the highest it has ever been since I was diagnosed back in 2002. 3 months later and less than 2 months since my RNY, my A1C was just over 7%! My weight at that late afternoon appointment was 249 w/ jeans on! I can't wait until I am out of the 200s!!
Telling a difference in clothes
Nov 01, 2007
I am finally back into my "old" fat clothes! I am so happy about this. For years I wore a sz 22, then I switched diabetic meds and gained 30 lbs, which seemed to go straight to my gut! This gain put me in a tight 24 and a comfortable 26. So scary to move up to those sizes! I have worn a 24 before, but they were always loose in the past. I was bigger than my sisters, and I am shorter than they are by at least 3 inches! Since week 2 I have noticed my clothes getting looser. I can no longer fit into the 26 pants that I have. The 24s are loose but still comfortable and not too saggy looking. I can fit back into my favorite pair of jeans that are size 22. All of these changes make me so happy!! I hope it just keeps getting better and better.
Things that make you go hmmmm....
Oct 30, 2007
I am an OH lurker. I never post, and rarely reply to other posts. I hope that doesn't make me a bad person. I see a lot of the same questions repeatedly, and I wonder if people are really researching as much as they should. I also worry that I am not "normal" b/c I don't seem to be having any adverse issues from my surgery. From the beginning I have been able to tolerate water and food. I didn't have a problem sticking to my doc's and nut's food guidelines at all. Not that things didn't get boring every now and then, especially since I mostly ate cottage cheese for 4 weeks to make sure that I got all of my protein in, but I haven't had the dreaded head hunger that I keep hearing so much about. I have also had no problem w/ advancing my diet. So far, I have tolerated anything that I have tried well. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, and am extremely grateful that things are going so well so far.
5 week check up 10/17/07
Oct 18, 2007
Had my G-tube removed (didn't hurt), and had a loss of 21lbs for my first 5 weeks. I was very pleased with the loss considering my scale at home says I have only lost 15.
