Doing better?

Sep 08, 2008

My ulcer seems to be doing better. I can eat solid foods, and hopefully have graduated from a level 3 diet. I am still taking Carafate, for my ulcer, and Phenergan, for nausea. I am getting around much better. I am starting to walk for about two miles each day again. I still have to watch closely what I eat.

Still here

Aug 26, 2008

I was in the hospital for one week. I was discharged yesterday. I am taking it easy for the next couple of days. I hope to get back to the gym by weeks end. I am eating soft foods and watching my intake of fluids.

Life Goes On

Aug 22, 2008

I have been in the hospital for the last four days. I developed an ulcer, and I was dehydrated, and mild nourished. I am on IV nutrients, and fluids. I am having difficulty eating and drinking, with chronic nausea. I hope to soon go home under home health, for my IV maintenance. I would go through the surgery again in a heart beat. My surgeon told me this morning that it would be a matter of time before the ulcer heals at the incision site? I will be able to eat and drink as I should in time.

Still a Loser

Aug 14, 2008

I went to see my surgeon today. It was one month today since my surgery back on 7/14. I weighted 358 Lbs today. I have lost 47 Lbs since my surgery was performed 4 weeks out. Since I started the process with Dr Houston on 6/20. I have lost a total of 67 Lbs. I have 168 Lbs., to go to reach my goal weight. I have lost 22% of my weight in the last month.

Just be thankful

Aug 10, 2008

I am thankful that through all of the difficult times that has come into my life personally within the last few weeks, I have been able to maintain my diet. Even though I haven't weighted in almost three weeks and I can tell from how loose my clothes are fitting that I have continued to lose. I am thankful that I made the decision to have the bypass surgery. It has been a struggle at time, with the nausea, and twice I have vomited, I have had some difficulty eating certain foods on my diet. I have been able to stick closely with my diet. I feel much better both emotionally and physically.

Life is a real adventure?

Aug 09, 2008

I have not been able to add a blog in a while. I can tell that I am still loosing even though I haven't been able to weight in nearly three weeks. I have been out of town. My Dad was in the Hospital, and we brought him home on Hospice. He died on Thursday night and will be burried on Monday at noon. I am just thankful that he is out of pain and has gone to his eternal reward to be with his Lord.

Work, Work, Work!!!!

Jul 23, 2008

I went to the YMCA  today. I walked on the treadmill for  two  miles. I did it in one hour  and  two  minutes. I also lost  400 calories. I had been walking on the road around and outside my development, but it wasn't too safe. I am feeling much better after surgery. I need to exercise even though I sometimes don't really want too. I have a YMCA  family membership so it does not make any sense not using it. I just need to make sure I don't over do it.

This has been a bad last part of my day for me. After getting home from the gym I felt alright. Later in the afternoon I began to feel sick to my stomach and constipated. I am doing better now and I am able to push fluids better tonight. I was told that these up and down days would come. I have had a few along the way already. I will see how the day goes tomorrow?

Just truck-in along

Jul 22, 2008

I went for my one week post follow up with my surgeon. I had lost 13LBS within the last week. within the last month 33LBS. I met with the psychologist and dietitian. I am progressing on to shakes for a week. Next week I start soft foods. I am still sane and haven't shot anyone yet. Which I think is a very good thing.  LOL  I started the process with Centennial Medical Center, by my PCP referral in April 2008. I have lost totally to date 56 LBS.

Starting the journey

Jul 17, 2008

I had my Gastric Bypass (RNY) Surgery on July 14, 2008. I weighted 395LBS. The surgery went very well. I have a very good Surgeon in Dr Hugh Houston, with Centennial, in Nashville, TN. I came home on 7/17/08. I am doing well. The pain medication is managing my pain well. I have been able to get my 60 grams of protein and at least 64 ounces of clear liquids. It is a challenge, considering my pouch is roughly the size of a small egg. Go ponder on that one for a while.

Knowing that better days lie ahead

Jun 23, 2008

I am hoping and praying for better days to come. My Gastric Bypass surgery is scheduled for July 14Th, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. I am carrying two people around now, and hopefully some day soon there will be just one. I went for pre-op today and my weight five days before surgery is down to 403 lbs. I have lost a total of 31 lbs prior to surgery.
