My story is probably a little different than most. I didn't have RNY for weight loss. Yes, I am over weight, but my BMI on my day of surgery was 35%. Gastric bypass was recommended after it was realized my previous surgery for heartburn had failed. I had Nissan Fundoplication in June of 2006. It had slipped and caused a great amount of discomfort for me over the past few years. The only option to fix this issue was to undo the Nissan and do a RNY Gastric Bypass. This was done on 11/11/2009 after two years of fighting with my insurance.
