Done with my requirements! YAY!

Jul 02, 2012

I have officially finished my requirements for my insurance!  Yesterday was my 6Th visit to the doc for my doctor supervised weight program!  I have submitted everything to my surgeon for review.  They will be calling me today sometime after 3pm to let me know if they think I have all I need to submit to the insurance.  I am so nervous and anxious!  My surgery is scheduled for either the 16Th or the 23rd of this month.  The later date is for if the insurance takes too long to give authorization.  Any who, wish me luck!

Please make time go faster!!!

Jun 02, 2012

The time just seems to be slowing down more and more!  I have my 5th physician supervised weight loss visit this Monday.  One more month to "D" day!  That is the day that I get to submit all my information to my insurance for pre-authorization.  I also have an appointment with my Bariatric doctors office to have the nutritional evaluation this month on the 11th.  If all goes well, with the insurance that is,  I will be scheduling my surgery on the third week of July!!  I can't wait to start this journey! I am so ready to get healthy and feel sexy again.  I have just ended a bad relationship of 7 years and looking forward to what God has in store for me and my kids' future.  Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.........:0)

Emotional Eating

May 24, 2012

So I have been reading the posts on here and I've heard a lot about emotional eating. I came home from a stressful day at work today and I ate two large muffins and some Cheetos before I realized it. Then when I realized what I had done, two and two together. I never realized that I eat emotionally. I guess I just never thought about it. Now I know it exists I know I have a problem with it.

Time is crawling!

May 19, 2012

Now that I am so close to completing all of my requirements for surgery time is just crawling!  I thought the next two months would breeze by but the days seem never ending.  I am currently a teacher at a women's prison.  A few of my student's have had bariatric surgery in the past.  Being able to get feedback from them about what to expect is helpful.  And being reasured that this is going to be the best thing I ever do for myself is wonderful.  I have been struggling with the idea of regreting going through with the procedure.  They have reassured me they had no regrets.  I am also struggling with fear of it not working.  I don't want to fail after such a drastic measure.  I am just going to have focus on making this a lifestyle change.  I am ready.

New beginings!

May 16, 2012

My name is Julie Woodard.  I am 31 years old and from Texas.  I have been doing a lot of research on bariatric surgery for some time.  I am excited to say that I currently have the ball rolling towards making this a reality.  My current insurance will cover the cost so long as I meet all their pre-authorization requirements.   I must first partake in a 6 month physcician supervised weight lose program, in which I am nearing my 5th dr visit.  On July 2, I will complete this program.  I must undergo a phsychiatric evalutation which is done.   I must present two years of medical documentation that show my BMI over 40, which after much research, has been completed.  And I must have a consultation with my bariatric surgeon in which he states that bariatric surgery is a medical neccesity.  I have picked and consulted with my surgeon, Dr. Ganta of Austin, Tx.  He thinks that my case looks well.  We will be submitting all the requireed documentation to my insurance on July 2nd.  Dr. Ganta says it usually takes 2 weeks to hear back from the insurance, but that we would go ahead and schedule my surgery on the 3rd week in July.  I am a cosmetology teacher in a women's prison and taking time off isn't an easy task due to the students clocking hours.  I have been fortunate enough to have a boss that will let me work every Saturday till then to create a cushion for their hours.  So everything seems to be falling into place.  I have a nutrition and excercise consultation on June 11th at Dr. Ganta's office.  This is also required for the authorization.  I have chosen the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy as my procedure.  It seems to fit my lifestyle the best.  At this time I have no fears.  Except maybe the financial part.  My out of pocket maximum for the year is $5,000.  My Surgeon copay is $500 and the hospital copay is $500.  I will have to pay $300 for the nutritional appointment.  Plus the $45 copays everytime I see the doctors.  I have secured a CareCredit card with a $5000 limit for the surgery but I am also saving cash to help myself not have to max out the credit card. Wish me luck and I will keep you posted as things progress!
