Nine Month Post-Op Checkup
Jun 20, 2007
Checkup went smoothly. I arrived to find out that Dr. Juarez was in emergency surgery and I would have 1 1/2 hour wait. The nurse went ahead and took my weight, 193, and my BP which was 105/60 with a pulse of 90. Shortly after that Dr. Fang came in to take over the patients for Dr. Juarez. This was the first time I had met Dr. Fang. He is very nice. He was pleased with my progress and said that I am right on target. He checked my scars and what stomach I have hanging over. He said that I could start doing weight training. I have to clear this with my shoulder surgeon first since I just had a rotator cuff tear repaired two months ago.
I have also had this dermatitis in my eye again so I had to see the eye doctor. Man, am I spending the money this week. ($120) Got the prescription that I knew I needed for the eye and after one application it is clearing up.
I will be taking my first plane trip since surgery next week. I am kind of excited to see how I walk through the airport without gasping for breath and sitting comfortable in the seat on the airline. Also excited to hear what all my relatives have to say about the way I look now.
Will update you all when I get back.

Spent the weekend in Las Vegas. I sure had an
awakening when it comes to food. My only problem was
figuring out what to order and not wasting any food. This is very hard to do because as we all know, restaurants serve way
too much food. The sad part is people eat it all.
Why can't they give you the option of just ordering what you want. I did manage to take half of a meal back to my room and put it on ice for the next day. I wish there was something we could do to petition these eating establishments to allow gastric bypass patients to order smaller portions or to petition them to serve smaller portions. There are so many homeless people in this country that could be eating all the food that is being thrown away. It makes me sick. Off my soapbox now.
On the up side, I am down to 193.8 now.

I am definitely there and am doing the happy dance. I didn't think I would ever make it with the scale stalling. My next goal is to lose at least 10 more pounds before I go on my trip to Ohio in a month.

I had my shoulder surgery on 3 May. Originally I went in for an AC Joint repair and the surgeon ended up finding a small tear in the rotator cuff. Recovery is going well; after two therapy sessions I have full range of motion back. I still have a lot of work to do though because I am still experiencing some pain and there is still brusing at the site.
I am still battling to get to onederland. One day I stepped on the scale and it said 199. Next time I got on the scale it was in the 200's again. Yesterday it said 202 and this morning 197. Now I just need to keep it there for a few days and I can announce that I am in onederland!!!!! I am increasing my protein and seeing if that helps.
Got a new haircut and was feeling so good over the past weekend. Then I had to go back to work and do nothing all day this week. That gets so boring and it is more of a stuggle to stay away from grazing.

Today I went to see my PCP to follow up on my blood pressure. It was 122/80 today and he was very pleased with it and my weight loss. He is taking me off the blood pressure medication. Another step in the right direction on this magical journey.
