change of scene
Mar 02, 2011
My daughter and I both started this surgical weight loss process together late last fall, 2010. I had my surgery Dec. 18th, and she had hers Jan 11th...both of us had RNY gastric bypass. Then, she had a complication--terrible pain, and emergency surgery on February 18th-ish. A slipped stitch opened up inside near the surgery site, and she leaked fecal matter and fluid into her abdomen, which got infected. She was very sick. A week in the hospital, and then I drove up to take care of her. It's been rough on her. The recovery was complicated by her being sick beforehand, and her level of energy is low.
This is a lesson to us all that this surgery is MAJOR surgery, and she has had TWO major surgeries within a month. We need to respect this process. And anybody who thinks this is the "easy way out" is grossly mistaken!!
I am so grateful she is okay and recovering, and that I am well enough to help her out a little bit.
