I've been "super obese" for well over two decades, and I've been mulling over weight loss surgery for a couple of years.  I have some health issues, not the least of which have been a few TIAs.  Those are usually a precursor to a full blown stroke, and it's a road I hope to avoid.  My cardiologist has discussed WLS with me, but I was reluctant because I've considered myself to be relatively healthy.  In March of last year, my Mom had a massive heart attack and was without a heart beat for around 7 minutes or so.  It was enough to damage her brain to the point of no return.  She lingered for 7 weeks before ultimately passing away.  I would hold her face in my hands, look into her eyes, and say, "Mom, I'm going to let you help me save my life!"  I'm ready now to do whatever it takes to gain some sense of control over my life!

I've had a number of friends who've had various forms of weight loss surgery that have been huge in helping to tip the scale in favor of having WLS.  Some are as far out as 12 years, and each one of them have had success!  I grilled them and they openly and honestly answered all of my questions.  There's something to be said about reaching back and helping the next person out of "the pit"!  These friends have all been a tremendous blessing to me in one way or another!

Many of my friends often refer to me as "the fattest fit person" they know!  I'm pretty physical and I love exercise!  In fact, in my mind, I'm a thin person!  This is usually a source of some kind of pain or injury, because, let's face it:  the momentum of my body weight is pretty hard to stop on a dime when playing tennis!!  I hope to eventually match my body with my mind, and live the life of the thin person I've longed to be for so long now!

I've been married to my husband for almost 27 years and he's very supportive of my decision!  And three of the most amazing young ladies call me "Mom"!  Our family has expanded to include a great son-in-law, and I know that grand kids can't be too far down the road!  Hopefully, by the time they get here, I'll be the same ol' me with a whole new healthy life!  Whoop!  I'm ready!  Bring it on!
