So, I'm a little late on starting my blog.  I suppose that it will be helpful for me to journal my progress.  I'm about 7 weeks out from my RNY.  So far, I am so happy.

Why did I have RNY?  Oh.... I was thin as a child but when puberty hit I "blossomed".  I was a size 14/16 through high school.  Two pregnancies and a failed marriage brought me to 278 in my 20's.  Back then I found a doctor willing to prescribe tenuate -- it worked very well for me -- and I got my weight down to 132.  I felt fantastic but struggled to maintain.

I later met & married my current husband.  We decided to have children & unfortunately required medical intervention which lead to our wonderful children and major weight gain.  As time went on, my weight kept inching up.  Then, when our daughter got sick and was eventually dx with epileptic encephalopathy, my emotional eating really got out of control.  My weight hit 234.

I was absolutely not going to allow myself to hit 278 again.  I made an appointment for weight loss surgery.  I had my surgery on my 40th birthday - 3/31/10.  It was the best gift I ever gave myself.  I am so happy with my rny.

I know that I will have to work on my emotional eating - that my head struggles will not be cured by this surgery.
