One Step Closer
Aug 23, 2016
It's been a long haul to get to this stage. The program in Manitoba sure has changed immensely and for the better since 2010. I finally meet up with my surgeon, for the vsg revision to roux en y, Monday August 29th. From there I will find out when my surgery date is.
I never realized through the years what I was doing wrong and the things I had to rectify to get to this point...fighting with iron levels, eating at least three times minimum, protein, protein protein and how to not only use meat as a source, reaching my caloric intake, etc. Yes, if you skip a meal or if you do not eat enough, you will have big issues not losing weight.
At the beginning of this program, in its infancy, they didn't have the crew they do now, so its grown up quite well, by leaps and bounds.
I am excited to start this new chapter in my life at 50 (birthday was January 9) and as I hit that age milestone, I also had a few other firsts......first vacation alone, to the place I have always wanted to visit and that is now forever in my soul, New Orleans. To staying in a hostel for my stay and enjoying the city on my own.
I have been "medically retired" since end of 2013, but was on short term disabilty prior to that for 2 years, much to my dismay.
I have been cursed with the bad genes from my paternal grandmothers side of the family. I have Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, severe arthritis in feet, knees and back, and I am pretty sure the excess weight isn't helping with the latter. PCOS, asthma, and the list really goes on and on. I cannot walk great distances, concentrate or have a "normal life" thus far.
Like everyone else I have good and bad days and have been yelled at by trolls, calling me a whale, etc. But thats their issues, not mine.
Will post again after my dr's appointment on Monday. I will try to remember to do so.
Ciao for now!!
VSG Revision to Gastric Bypass
Sep 03, 2015
I was informed today that I will be able to get a revision from the VSG to a Gastric bypass.
I have to first meet with the team (nurse, nutritionist, kinesiologist, and psychologist) on September 22 and then my doc will be notified and he then said that an appointment would be made as soon as within a month.
I am excited and anxious about this.
Who else has had the same kind of revision done?
Weekly Get Together

How many of you from Friendly Manitobans WLS group, would be interested in meeting weekly in a casual setting like perhaps a local restaurant or such??
Appointment is Set
Jun 29, 2015
So my first step to start this procedure is to see all areas of expertise before I get a revision.
My letter came in the mail and I go see the nurse, psychologist, nutritionist and kinisieologist all on September 22, 8-12.
I also received my information pkg from the bariatric clinic as what to expect and such. I know what to expect already but like I had stated in previous post it's starting back at square one for me.
I do not have any anxiety or concerns about having the revision done. With my many co-morbidities that seem to get more numerous with every passing day, I look forward to nip them in the bud, so to speak.
In the last year, I have had three surgeries on my feet (2 on my right and 1 on my left). This Friday, I go for a scope on my right knee, then once that's healed, they will do my left one. I keep joking that I am working my way up from the tips of my toes to the tip of my head.
I will get that thin woman out of me yet.....I know she is there as I see myself when I close my eyes. The struggle is real but the effort put forth will be worth it.
How Is Everyone Doing since Surgery
Jun 23, 2015
how is everything going with those who have already had WLS or are working there way to surgery?
I had been having great ups and now I am facing the downs. I am going for a revision as soon as its cleared with the institute. So looks like I will be starting from square one once again.
What are your stories?
Starting from Square One
Jun 23, 2015
Well it's been 5 years since I had a VSG. First few years, I did well. Kept doing what I was doing and slowly but surely, I slowly gained weight back. I then joined a gym and was going 3x a week. My Fibromyalgia kicked in to high gear and was and still is reigning my life.
Went for my 5 year check up, as I had gone every year as well as to other visits as requested. And with my other co-morbidities (too numerous to name currently) it is a constant uphill battle.
Well, at my last visit to my bariatric doc a week ago, we discussed a revision. I received my paperwork in the mail today to visit with the kinisieologist, nutritionist, nurse, and psychologist , before October.
Then we will see if I will be scheduled for a revision or not. I am hoping that this does happen.
what I would like to know is if anyone else has had a VSG and then a revision?
Please drop me a note.
Ciao

How many of you would be interested in a once a month active get together? Meaning that we pick an event and get together to do that, while interacting with each other. It doesn't have to be expensive but just fun. Let me know what you think please
Cheers!!!
March 12 2012 - Jumping back on the Bandwagon
Mar 12, 2012
So the wind in my sails was kind of knocked out there and I have been trying to find ME again.
I have been off work, since June 2011, due to my Fibromyalgia. My insurance company has set me up for an exercise regime, that will go for three months--I should say the membership is good for three months. I just got back from working out, and I am still waiting to start to feel better physically. I started at the beginning of February and I had high ambitions about going 3x a week and kicking ass. Well after my first workout there, I realized that that wasn't a realistic goal to start out with, so I changed it to twice a week. I am disheartened though as I haven't seen or felt any changes. So this week I will go 3x and see what happens.
Of course while I had been off, being sedentary was my worst enemy. I have gained some of the weight back and that is making so scared that what I gained won't come off again. I never did reach my final goal and that has also felt like a kick to the stomach. It will be coming up to my 2ND surgiversary in June and I would so like to be much closer to goal.
Excuse the ranting and whining, but I just needed to put this out there and try to alleviate some stress.
Love you all

I also was out side weeding my garden---slowly but if felt nice to be out there.
I still have another week off from work and will try to catch up on things that I have let go for too long. All things in time as I know not to rush things.
I was looking for my SF jello that I bought pre surgery but apparently my kids ate them all already lol Ah well, will have to pick some more up in the next couple of days.
I am so glad that the surgery is done. And I am excited about the future and what it holds.
Cheers!!
