My first race- 10 mile black fly in my eye trail race
Jun 28, 2009
I completed my first race ever. And it was a 10 mile trail race. The Black Fly in My Eye 10 mile trail race at Great Glen trails New Hampshire. The weather held out and it was nice out. I am so excited that I did this. A year ago I never imagined running like this. Now I am a runner!!! I love it!!! I finished in 15th place with a time of 1 hr 48 mins. The race was tough. They had us running on carriage roads, up single trail mountain trails that were quite muddy. We also had to cross a small river at the end. It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again next year!!!!
One year ago today!!!

I had my one year follow up today. Exactly one year ago today I had my RNY. My life has changed so much. I am happy and healthy. I have lost 101 lbs. I am a runner now and this summer I am doing a 10mile trail race and a triathalon. I really excited about both of these. All of this is possible because of my RNY!
I have so much more confidence and my self esteem is better. My family is very happy. My husband and I are closer now than we ever have been. He is even losing weight now too and running with me.
People do not recognize me often. I did not really see that much of a difference until they gave me my before and after photos today. I am so amazed at the transformation. I do not even recognize the person I used to be and I never want to be her again.

After being denied by the insurance company, Crystal worked her magic and I am APPROVED!!!! I have no idea how she did it. They initially denied me because my BMI was not over 40 for 3 years. I am scheduled for 5/14/08. I can't wait to be on that losers bench!!!

After starting this process in June with my family doctor, seeing Dr. Loggins in August, I am finally almost done. My insurance required 6 months of physician directed weight loss effort. I lost 36 lbs!!!! Now I just wait for insurance approval.
