2nd Surgiversary!
Oct 01, 2011
I lost 115 pounds, give or take, and have kept them off. I still have 60 pounds to get to my surgeon's goal, but it has been hard to go down. Why? Because the year of stall is due to my continued grazing. DON'T GRAZE! Eating in between meals is the kiss of death. Especially if you don't exercise.
I'm trying to increase my exercise, knowing my metabolism is probably shot. My tool (small capacity tummy) still works great. I eat less than 1/2 of what I would before. I am determined to be even more successful. But I have to say, I feel great and look good! Life has been SO much better since I had the surgery. No comparison. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I still attend WLS support groups and love the comraderie and understanding I get there. That has helped and will continue to help me.
Good luck to those starting the journey and those on the journey. It is a TOOL and one that must be incorporated in a healthy plan - eating and moving.

I got a new job!!!!
Six Months and Life is Changing!
Apr 02, 2010
Michael (the love of my life) had his surgery a month ago and is noticing changes all the time, too. It's so great having him on this journey with me. I get teary-eyed thinking of how much our health will improve and being so grateful we could do this together.
OK. for my changes:
Shopping in regular department store
In and out of the car is easier AND steering wheel doesn't come close to my belly
Moving without being out of breath
Sitting in regular chairs and not worrying about it before I go somewhere
Wearing fashionable clothes and getting them ON SALE!
Enjoying healthy foods and not obsessing about it
NOT taking ANY of the 3 diabetes meds I was on and having a better test (A1C) than ever
Feeling normal in a group, not the HUGE one
There are many more, I'm sure, but as I continue to lose the biggest change I have is a feeling. One I had lost in my many attempts to lose weight. I could lose 20, 30, 40 pounds and did so many times. But with this tool, I have something I didn't have. HOPE. The future is brighter for me.
Four Months Out This Week!
Jan 27, 2010
I'm feeling good and a bit stronger and more energetic each day. I'm so glad this is all working out so well. Now to get Michael going on his! He is scheduled for Feb. 24 and starts his liquid diet in two weeks. It will really help me stick to basics when he isn't eating. Onward!
Eve of a Very New Year!
Dec 31, 2009
My plan is to do my best each day, feeling grateful I've had this opportunity to really lose some weight. I also want to delve into some exercise this coming year. To find a way to work out that I can stand will be great. And to really focus on the healthy eating I can do.
9 Weeks Out!
Dec 01, 2009
I love
- that I'm never hungry
- that clothes fit me better, and some are getting too loose
- that I fit in more chairs
- that I have HOPE
- that I'm seeing the scale go down (52 pounds so far!)
- that I am in control of food
There will be many more reasons to love this procedure, but for now these things help me appreciate it.
Everything is going well!

The holidays will be very special for us this year. Can't wait to be doing this with him, and it will be soon!
Life Goes On...
Nov 05, 2009
I'm so pleased I did it! I'm five weeks out, and feeling just fine. I haven't had any complications or even issues with the pouch. I eat what I'm supposed to eat, and I'm not hungry. I never thought 1/2 cup of food would satisfy me, but it does. The weight is beginning to come off - 38 pounds already. Soon my clothes will be too baggy - yippee!
I haven't had any issues with getting in water or protein, so I feel very lucky that way. At my post-op meeting last week (they had me at 31 pounds down, fully dressed), I learned how to inject my B-12 shot each month and was told to start the calcium, which I've been doing since. I sound boring, but that's what I want - this to just fit in with my life! And it is. Another week and I'll be introducing "regular" food and not just eating soft foods. Wow!
Time Flies

I'm feeling good and the food isn't as difficult as I anticipated. Water drinking is going as recommended. All in all unremarkable recovery. So far, I consider myself quite lucky. I've had great support. My husband is the BEST, my sis has been there for me, and my brother came from Atlanta for a couple of days. Friends have been checking in and offering help, too. Right now, it's a day at a time. Little pain, just tired sometimes.
