It's been almost a year

Dec 04, 2011

It's been almost a year since I last update this page.

In a nutshell, I got married September 16th in Jamaica and I had a BLAST!  I married the man that God has ordained for me and I am truly happy.  We went to the State of Santa Cantarina in Florinopolis Brazil for our Honeymoon.  It was the most beautiful place I have ever been too.  It was so peaceful and serene.

How has my weight been doing?  Well, my weight seemed to stop it's lost at 295.  I couldn't figure out why.  I was running, eating like I should; but then, I was stressed out.  Planning a wedding, working full time, projects, etc...all of that took it's toll.  I also think that I was eating enough.  This surgery, this process tells you to focus on protein.  Make sure you eat your protein and stay away from carbs.  But the truth is that without carbs, you have no energy.  Carbs is what the body uses to function.  Now I understand; stay away from the bad ones; white bread, processed, etc...but, I got so confused that it scared me from carbs period.

So, I'm starting over.  I got a great workout plan with team beach body (they have all kinds/types of workouts for anyones needs), and I'm seeing a nutritionist to get back to the basics.  I'm going to try the shakeology too this time!  It's a meal replacement that is full of nutrients, energy, and 18 grams of protein.  I don't know about you guys but, I need that for my breakfast.  It's hard for me to get the breakfast that I need before leaving the house in the morning.

I plan to blog about it here and keep up with it.  You can check it out at:  www.beachbodycoach.com/rarejewlz
I'm so excited about loosing another 90 pounds.  Besides, I want to have some babies with my new hubby.  I definitely want my weight to be in order before we do this!

Here's to our health!

It's been a long time.......hard struggle

Jun 28, 2010

I haven't posted in quite some time now; but I thought I would give a quick update.

WeightLoss:
I haven't lost any weight over the past four months!  Talk about being discouraged.  I broke my toe and the doctor said no physical activity for 16 weeks so I just feel like I really fell off!  I hit my 1 year mark of Surgery, and hadn't even made it to 100 pounds.  I'm at 96.  So, enough about being in the dumps.

I hear that after 18 months of the surgery, it gets even harder to loose weight?  Is this true?  If that's the case, I have until the end of January 2011 to drop a significant amount of weight.  I don't want to be over-dramatic and set unattainable goals; but I will admit that it frightens me some.

I got cleared to start working out again so I'm back at it.  I'm doing P90X, drinking water, taking my viatmins, and counting calories and carbs.  Doing all of these has got to get my body back into the mood of dropping right?  I pray so!  I have another 100 pounds to loose so my body needs to catch up with the program.

Does anyone have any tips or words of encouragement for me?  I feel like breaking my toe really set me back but I refuse to believe that it will end my goals!  Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated!

I'm at a stall....ARGGGHHH!!!  So, I have to stick it out; be patient, and just wait.  No big news to report....besides the fact that my boyfriend has drilled 5 holes in the wall and my daughter's flat screen TV is still in the box......

The Body Shaper everyone is talking about....

Sep 13, 2009

So, a friend of mine did a fitting for me and I must say, I thoroughly enjoy the shaping factor, the hold, the softness, and  the breathability of the garment.  It is very light and it perks you up in all the places that you need.  I especially like the back support that comes with it.  I have herniated discs in my back and while wearing the garment, I do not get the normal back pain from sitting down for too long, or standing for too long.

The plus is that one of my goals was to loose 30 pounds by sisters wedding, October 11th.  Well, the garment is so well built for us plus sized women who are going through transformational changes for our bodies that it brought me down to the size that I needed to be.  I have to get my bridesmaid dress altered a whole 2 sizes.  (I'm hoping the seamstress can do this)

At any rate, I wanted to share this wonderful news with you.  If your interested in seeing what it's all about, check out my website:

If your interested in placing an order, send me a message at
[email protected].  We are able to place orders online for you directly, and can make transactional payments via paypal.

I enjoy the body shaper because while I am transitioning from WLS, I am still looking pretty darn good and getting the firmness and support that I need!

I'll post pictures soon!

3 Months Out--57 pds down

Sep 12, 2009

Yea!!!  I've made it to the 3 mos mark.  So far, I'm 57 pounds down and I'll take it.  I've learned a lot the first three months, and I know now that in order to be successful with the WLS, you still must excersise patience.  I think people believe that since you have WLS, your weight is suppose to fall off of you like water.  But, it still requires patience.  We flunctuate up and down, up and down.  At one point, I kept loosing and gaining the same 3 pounds for 4 weeks.  Even with those trials, I realize that we have to move on.  I may not have lost as much as others, but, really, I odn't think I would have lost 57 pounds in 3 months without the surgery, and with that, I'm grateful.

I've also learned that I need to work out at least 40 minutes within my fat burning zone.  This is great news because I realize that I don't have to overstress my workout trying to loose weight.  As long as I stay within that HR, my workouts will always be productive and beneficial to my health.  I recommend that everyone find out what their HR in the fat burn zone should be and workout there.  I'm happy to be 57 pounds down and I can't wait to get to the 100pd club.

I stumbled upon a new protein bar....

Aug 23, 2009

So I just had to share it with my friends.  So, I'm always looking for ways to ensure that I get my protein in, and since the doctor told me to consider protein bars as well, I've been trying them out.  I normally get Zone bars.  They were recommended by my doctor.  They are about 14 or 15 grams of protein, and 14 grams of sugar.  They are good, however, my taste buds seem to think that they are too sweet.  I believe this has something to do with the fact that I don't get sugar in my diet like I use too.

I lucked up and found a protein bar called "thinkThin".  The bars are 20 grams of protein, 0 sugars, and gluten free.  Yep, you read that right, 20 grams of protein, and 0 sugars.  And they are delicious!  I also enjoy the fact that by 9am, I've already had 20 grams of protein just from eating one bar.

I thought I would share with you guys in case your needing other ways to get your protein in.

50 Pounds Down

Aug 15, 2009

50 pounds down and about 156 more to go.  I can say that my weight isn't just falling off, I am working my ass off to make sure that it does come off.

I plan to increase my water.  I'm getting my protein in.  However, it makes it hard for me to work in the office when I drink a lot of water because every 10 minutes I'm running to the bathroom.  This can be quite embarassing when I'm in a conference call.  LOL

My boyfriend is going to measure me as I have not had my measurements done.  Although I've lost 50 pounds, my clothes still fit (which can be quite discouraging) but, I'm just taking it one day at a time.  My sister is getting married on October 11th and I need to loose 30 pounds to fit into this darn dress.  Do you think I can do it?  Only time will tell.

I'll update again on September 15th.

Back in the Gym

Jul 21, 2009

I must admit, it feels good to be back in the gym.  I went to the gym last night and did 20 minutes on the ARC Trainer; and then went back this morning and did 30 minutes on the ARC Trainer and 30 minutes on the treadmill.  I did a total of 2.2 miles today.  Next week, I get to add weights into the regime.

My doctor told me that the first 20-25 pds that people loose from this surgery is muscle.  It usually happens during the first 4-6 weeks.  Now, I'm ready to loose the fat.  I plan to take a nutrition class so I can really learn about food and eating healthy, and preparing healthy meals.  I've lost 35 pounds so far and I look forward to coming down even more in a healthy way.

Cheers to the gym!  It's going to become my new BFF

20 Pounds Down!!!

Jun 19, 2009

Yea!  So, I went to my 1st week follow up and I'm down by 20 pounds. This is a great way to begin the program.  My doctor said it was okay for me to workout now and to just listen to my body and don't overdue it.  I am very happy to hear this.  I asked him if he was sure because I remember the nutritionist telling me that I wouldn't be able to work out until I hit 12 weeks?  I use to think, wow, that's a long time to not be excersising; but, I think I will trust the doctor on this one.  A brisk walk couln't hurt anybody!  I have all of my vitamins in place so I will just do as the doctor said.

However, I wish somebody would have warned me about taking out the drainage tube!  Ay Carumba that made me shiver and breathe like I was in labor!

Well everyone, have a blessed and wonderful weekend

Home from surgery.....again....

Jun 16, 2009

So I got released saturday and all was well until Sunday night.  I was having some extreme pains in my abodomen and I didn't know what was going on.  The doctor told me to go to ER.  I went and after test and xrays, we found out that I had a foot of barium sitting in my colon blocking me from having a BM.  So all the gas was causing the pain.  I'm not a gassy person so I had never experienced gas before.  This was horrible!  I don't know how people deal or live with having gas like that!  I was going crazy.

So they admitted me to stay again overnight and gave me vitamins and fluids.  With the help of  some other meds, I was able to have a BM and felt 300% better.  LOL!  I would recommend for anyone coming out of surgery to add chewable fiber tablets to their list of viatimins to take every day.  The pain meds makes you constipated so maybe the fiber will counteract those effects.

Well, now I'm off to search the message boards for recipes and coping with nausea.  If you have any tips or advice for me, please let me know.

Thanks,

~Jewlz
