Bottom line here: Your boss is an IDIOT! Have your surgery, but first call a human resources attorney and fill him in (and don't tell a soul at work). FMLA protects your job. This is medically necessary surgery no matter if it's covered or not! THEN - consider filing a complaint with the EEOC. Your boss Mr. Bony Butt-should be the LAST unappetizing thing that you chew up and spit out! You go girl! Diane N

GIRLIE, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR SMALL MINDED @SSHOLE BOSS. I WAS ONLY TO BE OUT 2 WEEKS AND ENDED UP BEING OUT 6. IT IS UP TO YOUR SURGEON, AND YOU HAVE A HUGE LAWSUIT IF HE DOES ANYTHING REGARDING YOU OR YOUR POSITION. IT MAY BE ELECTIVE BUT IT IS FOR HEALTH PURPOSES. YOU WILL DO GREAT YOUR IN MY THOUGHTS AND YOU ARE GOING TO BE ONE HOTTIE BISCOTTI, YOU ARE GORGEOUS!!!!!!

Robin: Sometimes I cannot believe the insensitivity of people - especially those we work with. This really solidifies my decision not to tell anyone I work with what I'm doing until after. If you have an HR or personnel department, I would definitely check with them to see where you stand. It sounds like your supervisor is getting way too personal with you in regards to your decision, and because he doesn't "like" what you're doing, he's making it tough on you! You have all my sympathy - this is hard enough without the extra harassment! I'll be thinking of you and praying for the best possible outcome! Congratultions on beginning your new life!

My prayers will be with you as you go through the surgery and recovery. May your strength be restored; your recovery be swift and your tender heart be renewed.

R- First find out if your company provides FMLA.... (not all companies are required to) If they do, you are entitled to 12 weeks paid and/or paid leave- that means that if you need to take off for medical reasons, you can take off 12 weeks (but, if you only have 1 week benefit time- the rest of the time is unpaid- they don't have to pay you for 12 weeks if you don't have the time on the books).... they can not discipline you for taking the time off... what if you were going out for a pregnancy.... (I would consider that 'ELECTIVE'.... HAHA) Does your company have an HR department? Do you have a union? Do you have a policy manual? If you need any advice, please let me know- I am no expert, but I've been in management for 15 years, and I know a little bit about it- but, when it comes down to it, you wil have to decide how far to fight it...ONE THING THAT I DO KNOW - is that you do NOT need this additional stress right before your surgery... HANG IN THERE...
