Deanna W.
Well, where to begin. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. The first time I remember being on a diet, I was 14. I joined Weight Watchers for the first time at the age of 16. I followed the usual pattern of losing weight, gaining weight, losing weight, etc.... I got married in Aug. 1991 and my weight gain really took off. In the 12 years I was married, I gained over 200 pounds. My marriage was not a very good one and was an abusive one, so I turned to food to comfort me more than I ever had before. My marriage ended in July of 2003. So, now I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy. We live with my mother, which really works out for all of us. I have been on disability since shortly after Cody was born. Because of my weight and its effects, I found it very difficult to work, especially in my field of Early Childhood Special Education. I found out in October of 2005 that my insurance would pay for the surgery and that started my adventure. I went to my first seminar for New Start in Nov. 2006 and had my surgery on April 4, 2006.
