My story is pretty much an echo of all the others here. I came from an obese family who was obsessed about dieting. Although, I was underweight, I soon started to diet and then I actually needed to diet. So, second grade, I had a poochy belly, then by sixth grade, I was officially "fat" according to the other girls. I was put on every diet known to mankind and even lost weight a couple of times. I went from an obese teenager to morbidly obese adult.
I get angry at people who just assume that obese people are in this condition because we are lazy and stupid. I have been to nursing school and know all about nutrition. I also have a PHD in dieting! Most obese people know more about nutrition than dieticians. I have always worked out and have had many trainers over the years. I eat because I am an addict and have spent many years out of control. I am an emotional eater and have eaten my way through my parents divorce, depression, and the death of a child. Years of therapy is finally starting help me process my feelings in a positive manner.
I have been married to my husband for 15 yrs and am the mother of 5 wonderful children 7 months to 11 yrs. and 1 child who has gone on to Heaven ahead of us. I no longer work outside of the home. I'm ready to give myself this gift.
