7 weeks post op

Jan 29, 2010

Yesterday was 7 weeks after RNY.  I am down 35 lbs. but often feel like I should have lost more than this already.  So far everything I have eaten has stayed down without any problems.  Have only vomited once but I think it's because I had one bite too much.   Just wish the weight loss was quicker.  Met someone at the local support group who lost 125 lbs. in 5 months!!  Yikes.

It is hard to tell when I am full so I stop eating when I think it's enough.  Before surgery I would eat and eat and have a very full feeling.  Can't tell now - don't seem to get the signal from the stomach like before.  Haven't started exercising yet as I am having a lot of knee pain.  Doc put me on an anti-inflammatory so it is getting better.

About five years ago, a Brown University student started Shape Up RI.  This will be my fourth time participating.  For 12 weeks, participants try to lose weight, count exercise hours and keep track of steps walked.  I am a team leader so I will be back in action starting February 8 -t he beginning of the competition.  By then, most of the knee inflammation should have subsided.

Have been enjoying being able to go out to eat again.  Usually order some type of baked chicken with veggies.  Thoroughly enjoying everything, though I admit I do miss my diet soda.  A small price to pay for getting a new, healthy me.
