My name is Tina. I am a 45 year old female living in Southern Illinois. I am happliy married to a wonderful husband and father, Bobbie. I am a military wife and very proud to be living in this awesome country of ours. Thank you to all of the brave men and women who have faught to keep us free to enjoy our way of life.

My weight has always been an issue in my life. It has been like a yo-yo my whole life.

Life was very comfortable for me. I had no worried as far as what people thought about my weight. I never really though about my health going down hill until I went for a sleep study. The news was not what I wanted to hear. They informed me that I was borderline for a cpap machine. That scared the shit out of me. But also got me to thinking really hard about all of the things that had been progressivly changing with my body. I had been on BP meds for over 4 years, never gave a thought to it being because I was FAT. But it was sinking in now. I started looking into gastric bypass because of so many failed diets in my lifetime. Then finally approached my physician for a referal. So the process began.
In August of 2009 I received approval for my WLS. I started this process at 262 pounds, mind you I am 5'7" so I was pretty round. I was wearing a size 22 in womens plus size clothing.
On September 9, 2009 I went into St. Alexius Hospital for my surgery. This was done by the skilled hands of Dr.Norbert Richardson. Everything went well. I was sent home a couple of days later.
It has been a struggle . The highs of losing the weight and the lows of the stalls in the weight loss. But so far, I would have to say that for me, it is one of the best decisions that I have made in my life.
