Beginning the process....

May 28, 2009

So last night I went to the informational seminar on WLS. It was very informational....LOL Anyway, we all met Dr. Joyce one of the surgeons in the BMI department. He was really great and I liked him immediately. I don't know if that is good or not because I hated my back surgeon and he's done a great job on my two surgeries. Dr. Joyce was patient and explained a lot and genuinely seemed to care about his patients (both past patients and us as possible new patients). I know that this is what I want to do. Now...I just have to start jumping through the hoops to get there. He explained that BCBS will make patients go through a six month diet program...ugh! I have been dieting for the past 15 years!!!!!! Oh well, if it is what I have to do to make this happen I will do it. The next step is a one on one consultation with Dr. Joyce. I do not have a date for that yet, but I have a bunch of paperwork (medical history type stuff) to fill out so I can bring that to the consultation. So here I sit and wait. Waiting for a healthier me.....I will get there.

Starting the process....

May 08, 2009

So I finally was able to switch my insurance from an HMO to a PPO. I am going to my informational meeting on May 27th. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I have no family support to have WLS, but I know that I need this tool to help me. I am so tired being in a body that isn't me, tired of everything hurting all the time. I now have plantar facsitis and am in so much pain walking. I feel like I am in between a rock and a hard place. My doctor is telling me to walk more, but with my feet issues it hurts too much to walk. UGH!!!! I can't wait to be healthy again.
