I LIVE TOTAL WELLNESS EACH DAY WITH PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
                      COURAGE - CONSTANCY - CONFIDENCE - COMMITMENT

I Feel Great Today!
No more head aches...I believe it was the Melatonin. If I use it again I must use it sparingly and not back to back. I may just let it go altogether. I am also taking My ACV(Apple Cider Vinegar) daily and no artificial sweeteners. I feel good, bright and light. Where I would normally use artificial sweeteners I use Stevia or sugar but I use the sugar sparingly and I add it to My caloric intake. I found that I don't like Stevia with My morning coffee, so I use 2 Stevia pks and 2t sugar, tastes great now. All things considered, I can afford the 32 calories from the sugar on My Food/Calorie Budget.

I have decided definitely that I will move back to Atlanta. I'm very excited and so is Dani. She will finish her Ph.D. within the next 6 months and she can see the possibilities, the world is open to her; Atlanta will welcome her with open arms! I began My position search yesterday, I hope it won't take too long. I would like to be there by the winter; Dani will follow after she finishes up her degree. Life Is Good! ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!!

I feel GOOD Today!

I've decided to give up all artificial sweeteners (including diet sodas) for 30 days(beginning 8/1) to see how My Body reacts. I will use Stevia to sweeten My coffee and other items. I just have a feeling that the artificial sweeteners are negatively effecting My Body. I'm not a big juice drinker so I won't have a problem with that and lately I have been drinking about 16 oz of diet soda per day, I can easily give that up...if I want a soda I will just buy a regular can of Coke and let that be that, maybe once a week. I love My morning coffee, smoothies and evening tea...with Stevia, the sweetness won't suffer because it tastes great, just cost more. If giving up artificial sweeteners means a Healthier Me, then so be it. UMMM, Kool-Aid with Stevia..maybe.

It's All GOOD!

I feel Good Today!
I just got a new blender and it is GREAT! It crushes ice like the $700 models. It makes smoothie making easy and tastes soo good with the ice crushed up in it, it has a spout also. It's a Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express and it is super and cost only $15.99! Who knew, I was going to get one of the really expensive ones but Hamilton Beach mention ice crushing blades...so I figured I'd try it, what did I have to lose at only $15.99; one of My Best purchases. I guess now-a-days so many people are making smoothies and icy drinks that the technology is such to give people what they want for a great price. My protein smoothies tastes soooo goooood, it's like I'm treating Myself to a guilty pleasure each time I make one( I was just looking at the Orange Julius Ads above and thought "they can't out smoothie Me, Mine has lots of protein and nutrients and are low cal. I've long known the "secrete" to their smoothies...a dabb of protein powder.)

I've been thinking about getting into Green Smoothies but the veggies are sooo good now, this time of year, I just feel like lightly steaming them and just enjoying. I think I will eventually get into green smoothies because this blender will do them justice but I will slowly get into it...Green Smoothies are wayyyy more nutritious than juicing (couldn't pay Me to juice anymore.)I have some green smoothie recipes and have tried a few, taste pretty good but I have to work on them and do some tweeking to My taste buds just as I have done with My Protein Fruit Smoothies, but I'll get there. Speaking of veggies in season, bought some sweet corn on the cobb and squash yesterday. I ate the corn for dinner and it was so good, today I will have a squash casserole for dinner (My Grandmother's recipe which I've tweeked.)

I'm Loving the summer, I'm ahead of My weight loss schedule and I'm giving My Body what it asks for. I never knew eating right could be so satisfying. I'm buying some new clothes and surprising Myself with each reduced dress/pant/jacket...size. I'm Loving Total Wellness, I'm LIVING Total Wellness!

I Hear and Obey

Jul 22, 2010

I LIVE TOTAL WELLNESS EACH DAY WITH PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
                      COURAGE - CONSTANCY - CONFIDENCE - COMMITMENT

I feel Good Today.

Not much of an appetite these days, that's the summer...the high point of my weight losing period. The last few days I find Myself eating about 800 calories per day; that's good because I still feel energized and able to do whatever I have to do with enthusiasm and passion. I have been desiring My delicious Fruit Protein Smoothies and Salads, so I give my Body what it asks for. This morning My meal plan was for an egg white omelet w/low fat cheese, 3 turkey sausage patties and coffee; My Body said, "No way can I take that this morning, I want a Blueberry Protein Shake and coffee." So I prepared it (1 Scoop Protein Powder, 1/2C Frozen Blueberries, 1/2C Welch's Light Grape Juice, 1/3C water, 1Pack Stevia in the Raw) ohhh was it wonderful and filling and satisfying. This morning it was the breakfast of champions!

It's interesting how much more self-aware of My Body I am now and what it says when the "mask" of excess food is removed. Of course the key to weight loss success and a Healthy Lifestyle is ACTING on what My Body tells Me and being flexible enough to change and accommodate its request. Acting on what I know and feel is right is MY Responsibility...how does one get the resolve to ACT >>>In the beginning it is sheer WILL, then Commitment, then Discipline builds up, then Habits develop, before I knew it I just could not see Myself eating or drinking certain things or putting large amounts on My plate, I could hear My Body talk and it was saying what it like, dislike or could no longer tolerate. My Body said, "I function better and sleep better if you don't eat after 8 PM," I said OK, will do. My Body said, "Eat breakfast, but NOT much and focus on protein," I said OK, will do. My Body said, "Don't allow Me to get too hungry or too tired," I said OK, will do. My Body said, "You need to reserve your energy and get your exercise from daily activities, work, mandatory stretching, and fun activities that we can do as we age and will allow us to age Gracefully," I said OK, will do (jumping for joy.) So I can feel/hear My Body now and I am able to act positively on what My Body tells Me. And if anyone doesn't think that our Body talks to us, then you don't believe in Spirit either; the Body is one part of the at least 3 part entity that is called YOU/ME (Spirit, Mind/Soul, Body) and EACH of them has a say and level of importance, and Trust me, if ONE is in misery, it throws the triumvirate out of wack! I am WILLING to Listen and Obey! ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!!

Is An Exercise "Routine" Necessary To Be Fit, Slim and Healthy?

Jul 21, 2010

I LIVE TOTAL WELLNESS EACH DAY WITH PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
                      COURAGE - CONSTANCY - CONFIDENCE - COMMITMENT

I feel Great Today!
To answer My question I say NO!

It may or may not be strange but when I focus on eating lower calories I don't have the "desire" to exercise. I can do my basic stretching but more is difficult for me to do. I hope that this is not an excuse, I don't think it is; I have noticed that when I have constant weight loss and adhere to My Eating Plan, my focus is not exercise. I lost 8 lbs. last week and my key focus was adhering to a lower calorie eating plan, even lower than My normal 1500 calories. Right now my focus has to be on what I eat, keep my normal movement and stretching, I won't force extra workouts. As long as I am energized and moving I am OK. The focus must always be about what I eat, then stretching to keep balance and range of motion and movement; excess exercise or a routine may not fit in My Healthy Lifestyle (and some experts agree), but that's ok, the movement of Life and activities I enjoy are "exercise" enough! Normal everyday movement are enough to keep a person fit and slim and healthy and many experts agree (like The Zone doctor). When his clients are in weight loss mode he recommend that they NOT have an exercise routine because it will take them eating MORE calories to sustain that activity. Ever wonder why most people on a reduced calorie diet always "Backslide" with their exercise routine, they are either too tired sometimes to do even their normal stuff  or they cheat with food. A normal person is NOT sedentary, a normal person has daily activities...cleaning house, washing car, walking here and there, standing...this activity along with the fact that GOD built-in our weight balance (meaning JUST to stay alive/for the Body to function burns X amt of calories) will keep one healthy and slim. Heck MOST slim people never see a gym or have an exercise routine, they LIVE and EAT RIGHT!

The problem with fat people or ex-fattys is that we/they don't/didn't move much and ate wayyyyyy too much! When I was 20 y.o. I lost over 200 lbs in less than 12 months, NO WLS, had never been on a diet (so my metabolism was still a virgin/no yo yo dieting effect to over come), what I did was EAT RIGHT and did my regular activities which were not much UNTIL I began to lose weight, the more weight I lost the more I felt like going places/more movement, but never had an exercise routine until AFTER I lost all the weight I wanted to lose. In RETROSPECT, when ever I gained weight was when I had and exercise routine, why...because I did not adjust my caloric intake to accommodate the exercise...so I would be tired and hungry and just "pig out." Yes, I used to run cross country track and was on the tennis team while in college and I stayed slim and healthy...because the coaches told us how much we should eat-calorie wise to keep our strength up. After college I got into the weight lifting and kept up running but my caloric intake went way down because I didn't know any better, trying to be "Twiggy"...BOOM, weight gain, why, because I was cheating because I was TIRED and HUNGRY! Heck a BINGE is far worse than just eating 1500-1700-1800-2000 calories per day. I know some folks that can put away 10K-15K calories in a binge in one day!

So for me, you can have the exercise routine, I can't, nor would I want to do that stuff when I'm 50, 60, 70 or 80 y.o. anyway, but I will be walking around, traveling, gardening, swimming, stretching and such. So now if I am using an exercise routine to burn excess calories that I eat I'll probably blow up in my aged years(the WRONG time to be Fat!) So I'll stick with what works for Me...EATING RIGHT and having the right caloric intake, daily activities, stretching and fun things I enjoy. I want to enjoy Life now, after all Most EXERCISE is not a "Routine", nor done in a gym. All those years in the gym and running didn't do squat for me but enable my excess eating and play hell on my joints as I age.  ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!!

When I'm Satisfied, I STOP!

Jul 20, 2010

I LIVE TOTAL WELLNESS EACH DAY WITH PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
                      COURAGE - CONSTANCY - CONFIDENCE - COMMITMENT

I feel Really Good Today! I took a few suits to the tailor for alterations, which is always a good feeling. I also tried the McDonald's Banana-Strawberry Smoothie; it was good but when I do a smoothie I want the nutritional value of real fruit (I want the potassium and vit A and protein...) their smoothies use fruit puree which I am thinking has been pasteurized for shelf stability and kills some of the vitamins/minerals. Still, it tastes ok, I have to be in a real rush (like this morning) to buy one. Now MY Smoothies are "the Bomb!, great taste, low calorie, good nutrition and High Protein...but for Me, I like anything homemade better. I remember when McD gave free Frapachinnos, I got one and they taste Great, but LATER when I checked out the calories and nutritional information I was "pissed" because it destroyed My food budget for the day! This time I was not "caught off guard" I got the info up front! I guess, no, I know it's because I take My WELLNESS much more seriously now. I just don't throw anything in My mouth anymore, I don't eat anything without forethought, I'm NOT a Human Garbage Disposal anymore! Next thing I'm going to try will be the Pretzel M&M's, I hear that they taste great.

My eating is planned now to fit what I want into My Food Budget...I used to think that I could not eat candy or desserts or pizza or anything "good" but that is sooo far from the truth, all I have to do is FIT it in My Food Budget, if I can't eat it all, I just STOP. Last night I had budgeted for 2 slices of pizza and 5 buffalo wing drummettes, well, I ate only one slice of pizza because I was SATISFIED and stopped eating. I THREW the other slice away! That took a conscious effort and I want to make that a habit, throwing away what I don't eat on my plate; actually it will improve my meal planning, I am NOT planning meals for a "Fat Person" anymore! Putting too much food on one's plate is a "Fat Mentality," most slim and/or health conscious people take a small portion and if they want more they take the time and EFFORT to go back and get it. Nor did I offer the extra pizza to Dani, why shove excess on another person. I think it is still in the Human gene pool that it is better to eat too much than not eat enough or be satisfied. That goes back to the caves, and every Culture has a history of famine or not having enough food. We live in a different world today, and in this country there is a grocery store fully stocked on every other corner, a fast food joint is on the other  corner...so food ain't going nowhere. For me that was one of the hardest concepts to grasp but once I "got it" it helped me to control my portion amounts; once that was accomplished my "natural pouch"(stomach) shrunk, and it WILL let me know when I have had ENOUGH, I am responsible to STOP!

I think that Excesses may be related to one's lack of "Self Awareness;"  it's not just related to food but every aspect of Life. When a person can not "feel" or know a feeling they keep eating or searching...the feeling of contentment, satisfaction, peace, joy...are Life's greatest feelings, that's the 80% of which Life is made, but a lot of people chase the 20% (Too high or too low)which is fleeting and are miserable most of their lives. One thing about being obese and then losing the fat, you are forced to feel, if you don't learn to express those feeling properly, the effects can become negative.

Fasting

Jul 15, 2010

I feel Excellent Today! It's as though I'm not Fasting; I feel at peace and a bit quiet. Actually, that is the demeanor I should have when Fasting, any type of Fast. I am not hungry and my mental and physical conditions are positive. I have decided to Fast every Monday and Tuesday; I have so much control over what I eat, food is very manageable for me now since I know that I can eat what I want. I have noticed that my Body responds extremely well to Fasting, many of my aches are very much lessened. I'm Happy and at Peace. ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!!

In Alignment

Jul 14, 2010

I LIVE TOTAL WELLNESS EACH DAY WITH PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
                        CONSTANCY - COURAGE - CONFIDENCE - COMMITMENT

I feel Super Today:
I awoke this morning with a freedom, joy and peace in My Spirit. I am in alignment with the Universe now and it has nothing but Good for Me. I can feel the opportunities and I am prepared to accept the Best that is for Me. I am on GOD's Side!

Last night I contemplated a Fast but ruled it out. This morning I awoke and My Spirit demanded that I Fast...so I have decided on a 3 Day Non-Nutritive Liquid Fast.

My Spiritual and Mental Clarity is amazing! As Dani says, "Just enjoy THIS Moment, feel THIS Moment!"
