60 lbs!

Apr 26, 2009

I'm amazed at how quickly time is flying.  Is this a sign of age?  I'm approaching the 3 month anniversary of my surgery.

Last night, I was getting ready to go out for dinner and a movie and all my clothes are too big!  It's a wonderful, wonderful feeling!

I was so concerned that the weight wasn't coming off fast enough, but I need to be patient with myself and realize how well I'm doing.   My food choices are so healthy now.  When I was out for dinner last night, my friend ordered the fried calamari for us to share.  I love calamari, but after just 2 small tastes, I couldn't justify putting the grease in my body.  I ate my Tuscan salad with grilled chicken and really enjoyed it.  I'm so glad that I don't have a problem eating salad (I was warned that some bandsters have a hard time with it) because I love it and it's an easy choice when I'm out to eat.

I also noticed that I wasn't as concerned about spilling over onto my neighbours' seat in the movie theater last night.  My hips are still pretty wide, but I'm working on it!  A real victory would be able to fly comfortably.

I've had my first cold in over a year this past week.  It really dampened my appetite.  I still ensure I have my protein shake in the morning,  no matter what.

I'm pleased to meet more bandsters on the chat section here.  It seemed we were very rare.  I wish my surgeon's office would finally start up the support group for bandsters.  Our experience really is completely different from bypassers.

I've also noticed that I'm lasting longer in the pool.  At first I could only do a few laps.  Now I do deep-end exercises and I'm going strong for 30 minutes!

As the weather warms up, I wonder whether I will finally be able to once again ride a bike.  To go bike riding with my son is one of my goals.

Another longer term goal is to no longer be a BBW.  No more plus sized stores - that would truly be an accomplishment!
