Loser !
Sep 14, 2013
I AM A LOSER and proud of it !!!!
I had my surgery on Wednesday, August 28th. I have had a couple minor complications but am on the mend now! I should be released to start my exercise routine on October 3rd. Until then I will continue to take short walks. I have lost 26 pounds so far and can already feel a difference.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!!!! God bless!!!
Day before surgery !
Aug 27, 2013
Well, I made it this far !! I can not believe this is the day before surgery. I have waited for this day for 3 years. It sure has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs ! Thank you to all those who have stuck by me through this journey as I could not have done it without you !
I am going to spend the day doing some final prep. for tomorrow. House is cleaned but I am going to go over the floors one last time. I have arranged my pantry and fridge a little differently to prepare for my new pouch. I am just going to have a relaxed day.
I feel very confident about tomorrow. The team that will be taking care of me are all aware of my "issues" ie. the PTSD and anxiety so that helps knowing they will know how to help me through. BIG relief ! My daughter will be by my side every second that she can be. They even have a roll away bed to put in my room for her !!
I will post here as soon as I can. Until then....thank you for joining me on this journey to a new me !! God Bless !!!
Tough night!
Aug 24, 2013
UGH!!! I am struggling tonight! I have analyzed it and I don't feel stressed or bored. I am so hungry and I find myself trying to justify eating something I shouldn't. I think my best bet i to go to bed!
Anesthesia Consult
Aug 23, 2013
Had a consult with the anesthesiology team that will be putting me to sleep on Wednesday. We, and by that I mean they, because all the input I could give was I WANT TO WAKE UP, came up with a plan. They will be using a different type of gas and pain medication combination for me. This should help me wake up better. Because of the sleep apnea and the fact that narcotics have such a strong effect on me, I have a very difficult time coming out.
The anesthesia team, surgical team, nursing staff and bariatric team are all aware of my PTSD and anxiety and have all been working with me very well.
I got my CPAP machine turned down to 10 today and picked up my magnesium citrate while I was out today as well.
I plan on getting my house in order and packing this weekend so that I can have a couple days to remain calm before Wednesday.
Still not hitting me yet but I'm sure by Tuesday I will be a bit more anxious
Thank you for joining me on my journey !! God Bless !!
Pre-op Surgeons Visit
Aug 22, 2013
Whew! Today was a long day ! Started out with a tour of the hospital I will be at. The nurse took me to the surgery area, waiting area, the infusion clinic and the wing I will be on after surgery. I will have a private room with a roll away bed so Bre can stay the nights with me.
After the tour, they took me back for my pre-op blood work and went over instructions on how to use the little blower thing that keeps you from getting pneumonia...some kind of meter.
Next, on to the Surgeons office for a brief presentation and the signing of the papers. Then I met with the Surgeon privately and went over last minute details and asked some questions. The nurse also got my official pre-op height and weight...5'4" and 262.
All in all it was a pretty good day. I did find out that if there are no complications, I may be able to go home on Friday rather than Saturday. Pray for no cellulitis !!!!!
Tomorrow is the consult with the anesthesiologist.
Thanks for joining me on this journey !! God Bless !!
Pre-op Liquid Diet
Aug 20, 2013
Well, I am ending day 7 of the pre-op liquid diet. The first 3-4 days were very hard. I have made it half was and only "cheated" once...I ate a pickle. Now, technically, this is ok because it is a cucumber and it meets all the requirements as far as calories and sugars so I don't feel guilty. My favorite of all the protein powders I got is the Nectar Cappuccino. LIFE SAVER !!
I had my 6 month appointment with my primary care physician yesterday, per the requirements of my insurance, and she cleared me for surgery. She also set up a consult with the anesthesiologist to go over a plan since I didn't wake up well the last time I had surgery.
I have my pro-op appointment with my surgeon and his staff on Thursday. I will also have all my testing done ie. blood work, EKG, sonogram and such.
I am excited but it really hasn't hit me full force yet. I think once I am in the waiting area, with my lovely gown on, it will really hit.
That's it for now. Thank you for joining me on this journey !!
God Bless !!
I'M BACK !

I have a date !!!!
Jan 26, 2012
My RnY Gastric Bypass surgery is scheduled for Monday, February 13th. What a neat way to celebrate each year...the day before Valentines Day ! I am sooooooo scared but even more excited !!! I feel like this is a birth for me. Like a baby grows and developes in the womb, prepairing for its birth, I have been growing and developing prepairing for mine too. My third birthday ( first was actual birth, second was the day I was adopted) will be February 13th. This is when my new life will begin and I am so READY !!!! Happy Birthday to me !!!! (This, of course, is a sugar free cake !! LOL )
