I finally DID IT !!!!

Apr 10, 2010

After seeing 3 Different Dr's and being denied treatment by 3 different dr's, I FINALLY Found a Dr who would operate on me.  (DR MICHAEL BILOF in Millburn, NJ  ( w/ Bayville NJ office) ) ..  I'm on crutches and alot of the dr's I saw wouldn't operate on me for fear I wouldn't be able to walk and would develop blood clots.

My First visit with Dr Bilof was very long and very informative as well as Very thorough,    After all the questions were asked and answered,  Dr Bilof said, " I can operate on you".  I sat and cried.  I was so Thankful that someone would actually operate and not worry about my previous problems.   That was in Nov 2009.   Because of the Holidays, it took me longer then normal to get all the tests that were required, done.  I have my chemical stress test done without any problems, I had my pulmonary test done without any problems EXCEPT this dr wanted me to have a Sleep test for Sleep Apnea done which I wasn't sure why, since After the Gastric Bypass operation, 99.9% of people are cured of Sleep Apnea if they have it.  But I had the test done and PASSED (Shocker there).  Then there was the Endoscopy (where they stick a tube down your throat into your stomach)  Well I was nervous for that test because the last time I had that test done (many many years ago) I woke up in the middle of the test and pulled the tube out of my mouth.  So I was nervous but I went thru the Endoscopy and did fine this time. However, I Found out I had esphogitis, gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. So I was nervous that my GB Dr would say he couldn't do the test but Nope.. He put me on nexium and went about his business.

So fast forward its now February and I was waiting for all the results to come back before I could get schedueled for surgery and by the beginning of March 2010, I was approved for Surgery.   Except I had to get a Vena Cava filter inserted because of my age and that my Body Mass Index was over 50 , My Surgeon requires a  filter to be put in before surgery to prevent blood clots from hitting the heart / lungs INCASE. So I got that put in a week before surgery on the 22nd of March.
Everything went FINE..It was fast and easy.

I was schedueled for the 22nd for My Gastric Bypass operation but I asked if I could push it back a week because My Sister was coming up from North Carolina and I wanted her to be there for me and So We pushed it back untl March 31st.   ..

My Surgery wasn't schedueled until 2pm and I had to be at the hospital noon. All I could think about was not eating or drinking the whole night before and now all day.   But I did it.  I managed to survive and get to the hospital on time and
was operated  on time.  I was up that night after the surgery and Didn't take a pain pill after the first night..
I Did get up and walk around for 2 reasons, 1 - I wanted to get rid of the gas from the operation.
and 2 - I wanted to Start doing what was needed to take advantage of my New Tool.

I''m SOOOOO Thankful to Dr Bilof for giving me this Gift .
