Bay Bariatrics Bariatric Center

My husband met with Dr Tersigni in June, had his LAP RNY on 8/30. But let me back up a little... we had gone to a seminar in the Southern part of our state (not naming any names.. but) I felt that all they were after was numbers to show to the Center of Excellence program, to become a Center of Excellence. I left that seminar, not feeling very good at all about them. Had about decided that IF he was going to do this we were going to Portland. Our primary Dr. told us to check with Coos Bay.. my thought was \"CoosBay???!! You have GOT to be kidding -- you don't go to Coos Bay for surgery\" but I called his office. Dr was out of the country at a seminar / clinic, so I got to speak with Robin, his program co-ordinator... WOW! After 20 minutes on the phone with her, I felt like my husband would have a chance at this surgery helping his diabetes and high blood pressure. So we went to that June consultation! I left that appointment feeling VERY confident in the Dr's skills, along with having met some of the staff.. they are AWESOME!!! I don't use that word lightly, they are truly caring, helpful, respectful people that want you to understand everything. Mindi was great, as was Nancy.. she handled the insurance portion for us, and boy did that lady have to fight for my husband, but she did. Would call every couple of days and let me know what the Ins. Co was trying to change.. my husbands surgery is a result of her going above and beyond the call of duty. Dr Tersigni doesn't do seminars, he wants to meet each patient one on one, which I thought was very nice. If you aren't in his area, he will give a the paperwork, so your local lab can run the tests as well Dr Tersigni spoke with me after the surg., and this was the first time my Dad had met/seen him. My dad was impressed with him, just from the up-date . Robin came to the hospital on the day of his release (bear in mind this was Labor Day weekend) and gave me 3 different #'s to call her in case i had any questions. As an overall rating I would give him and his staff a 9 3/4.. only because no one is perfect! If you have never trusted any Dr., now is the time.. Dr Tersigni is great and will help you! As a side note my husband is 5 weeks out-- has lost 47#'s , Blood pressure is normal, and Blood sugar levels are just above normal, and they haven't been there in years!

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Tersigni from the first time I met him. His name was given to me with well deserved high recommendations and I will gladly pass those on to others!!! His nurse and all the staff in his office have always been extremely attentive and encouraging. Dr. Tersigni emphasizes the importance of vitamins and exercise in order to have a healthy successful life after surgery.rnHis bedside manner is great and his surgical competence is awesome. Dr. Tersigni is rated very high in my books!!

I figured it was time for an update on this, Today is March 23, 2007 (10 months post op).rnMy first impression of Dr. Tersigni was a good one, although I felt a little rushed by him. rnMy impression is still about the same - excellent surgeon, still rushes too much. rnHe has an Excellent Office staff!rnHe is good about taking calls post op and will personally talk with me if needed or see me if needed. My contact with Doc T has been primarily after care apts. I did have my gallbladder removed last month by Doc T and although surgery went well, I saw him for about one minute after surgery and not again until post op appt a week later. Still got that feeling of being rushed. Doc went through all risks orally and on paper, he and his staff are good about that. I think he is a Great surgeon, but it would be nice if he could slow down a bit, my guess is he would like that as much as his patients would. Doc T is a nice guy and is a highly competent surgeon.

First impression of the Dr. was that he was definately a surgeon. Had that I'm busy look going on. I think this is because they are so busy and goal driven. But after speaking with him several times he turned into someone other than just a surgeon. He is a busy man but he does take the time to talk with you and cares what you say. He is direct and very thorough. I think his practice and him are fantastic. The girls in the office were friendly and caring. They were great! And if you can get the Doc to smile or laugh then your day will get better.

I have known Dr. Tersigni for several years. I work in the same clinic where his practice is located. He is very intelligent and knows his stuff. When you first meet him he comes off very shy but he is a very good surgeon. I see his work daily, not nessary just obesity work but other procedures. He is wonderful. I have so much faith and respect for Dr. Tersigni. Dr. Tersigni's office is very busy. But all of his staff is very knowledgable and extremely caring. I truely feel Dr. Tersigni has given me a new lease on life.

My first encounter with Dr. Tersigni was my lumpectomy for breast cancer. His compassion and competence helped give me the courage to have the gastric bypass. I did a lot of research before my surgery and as a result was very pleased to find out that our little town has an extremely impressive program for bariatiric surgery and it just keeps improving.

I have met Dr.Tersigni several times when working in the hospital. When I went for my first consult, he immediately recognized me, which impressed me. He is a very nice man, a bit quiet and reserved, yet you can tell when he speaks that he is extremely good at what he does. He tells you like it is, but does not come off too forward. He has great bed side manner, and even a sense of humor! They both follow you very closely in the hospital. I saw him both days I was in the hospital.rnThe office staff is great. They are very busy, but always treat you with respect and with a smile. Mindy is extemely helpful with insurance info and to tell you how things work. Robin is Dr.Tersigni's R.N., and is also an extremely great resource. She is very open, caring, and can share from personal experience, as she herself is a gastric bypass patient! She visits each patient in the hospital as well, and even has gone as far as to give her home phone # to pt.s post op if you have questions! She provided me with a cute panda bear to use to brace my tummy for coughing, and never hesitated to be of help. They run a wonderful support group the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7pm @NBMCrn
