Comprehensive Weight Management Center. Bariatric Center

I first met Dr. Cleveland at a seminar I attended that he and his staff held. It was very helpful, and most of the details of his presentation helped to answer questions without me even having to ask. I think Dr. Cleveland and his staff are all very nice and considerate to every person I have seen them around. They are willing to go above and beyond to help people because I believe that they know how WLS can change a person's life in such a positive way. I think they want everyone to be able to have this life changing experience so therefore they work with people and do what they can to make this surgery happen. Many of the office staff have had WLS, and show successful results from it. This was a very positive insentive for me to see. The staff is a good way to let skeptical patients believe what is to come and also the staff can relate to what we are fixing to go through because they have been there. I have nothing at all negative to say about Dr. Cleveland or his office staff. They have all been so wonderful to me. They have been very thorough with what their job is and what my job is now, during and after WLS. I have been educated through Dr. Cleveland's seminars, the staff nurses, the dietitian, reading materials, as well as many other sources. I have been explained the good, the bad, and the ugly. I know the risks and I am willing to accpet whatever happens. I chose to see Dr. Cleveland after hearing all of the wonderful things his other post-op patients had to say about him. I feel safe letting Dr. Cleveland perform my surgery, and wouldn't think of going to any other surgeon. I am having no worries about him and his staff meeting my needs pre or post-op. CMMC, Dr.Cleveland, and his staff have developed a great program from what I have experienced so far. I recommend anyone interested in WLS surgery to attend one of CMMC's WLS seminars and decide for yourself.

I met Dr. Kenneth Cleveland for the first time on June 9, 2005. My first impression of him was that he immediantly made me feel very comfortable. He willingly answered all of my questions without a flinch. I liked his straightforwardness and appreciated that he didn't "treat me like a patient" he treated me "like a person." His program is one that I'm proud to be involved in. He truely believes in aftercare and will tell you in a minute this surgery is a tool for better health. As with any surgery there is always risk ... that's just the nature of the beast. He was open and honest about risks and aftercare. The support this clinic offers is wonderful. In all honesty, I feel surgical competence far outweighs bedside manner ... and in a perfect world sometimes you get both ... I feel as though Dr. Cleveland's patients get both. I feel as if I couldn't be in better hands. I'm thankful.
I would also like to acknowledge Dr. Cleveland's staff as they are simply wonderful.
First, Jeannie Stolk,R.N ... She is the best and has lots of first hand information as she's had RNY herself. She's extremely busy but never makes you feel as if there's anyone else but you in the world when she's speaking with you. If you're hurt, scared, anxious or whatever your problem might be ... she's there. She fought an extra fight for me that she didn't have to do. I'll never forget that. Ever.
Secondly, Adam Dungey,R.N. Clinic Coordinator... I met Adam the first time during my first initial seminar and knew right away I would like dealing with him. He's soft spoken, straightforward, not afraid to answer any of your questions and seems to have a real concern and feeling for people who've fought being obese. I would and do feel just as comfortable talking with him as I do Jeannie. It's apparent they work as a team and I like that so much!
Sandra (sorry Sandra, I forgot your last name!) Bad Kim! She's wonderful too and always there directing us to the right person when we call :)
I also loved hearing Keba Laird speak and answer questions at mu pre op appt and look forward to working with her during my aftercare. She's a lovely woman with a wealth of information.
In other words, I am VERY HAPPY about my decision to use Central Mississippi Bariatric and Comprehensive Weight Management Center. I urge anyone exploring the idea of having weight loss surgery to attend one of their seminars. I couldn't be happier that I did.

He is one of the best mannered and informative drs that I have ever met. He was never in a rush to not answer a question or talk to me if i had a problem. I feel that he was the most professional yet caring surgeon that I could have chosen.
I had some complications and he was genuinely worryed whereas alot of surgeons now just think of the next patient and not stick with you I saw dr Cleveland EVERYDAY that I was in hospital and for that I will never forget him.

After reading all the files and asking people who had had the surgery I pick Dr. C. I feel that he is straight forward. I have not had any problems with my surgeries unlike some of my friends who had other doctors to do theirs. I hate to brag but my personal opinion is that Dr. C is the best!!!! Also I have gone as far as telling other people who are in the process of getting the surgery to go to Dr.C. For me Dr.Cleveland has given me a new life to live again. For this my hat goes off to him!!!! Thanks Dr. C. keep up the good job and take care of the others I am sending you cause your work will speak through their bodies as it has done through mine. Oh yes have not had plastic surgery and the body looks good.

Dr. Rooks was suppose to be my surgeon and due to the fact his liability insurance would not cover him for the surgery, Dr. Kenneth Cleveland did my operation. I met him one week and he did the surgery the next week. The ballet is still out on my impression of him right now.
As for the office/hospital staff -- His nurse Adam Dungey is the best. I would have given up on the doctor, if it had not been for the support from Adam. Adam had some other patients that had been through the surgery give me a call. I was really down and out after surgery but thanks to his kindness -- Adam helped get me the support I needed. Adam really cares about his patients - if he were a doctor he would be what you would call "a doctors doctor" he is a really caring person --
From what I understand Dr. Cleveland now has a good aftercare program. At the time of my surgery - there was a little aftercare but not what was needed. Dr. Cleveland told me to besure and go to support group meetings. On the other-hand, Adam would call to check on me and reminded me about the meeting.
Dr. Cleveland did an excellent job on addressing the risk of surgery - from death to major problems that could happen. He went over this serveral times in his office.

Dr Cleveland was a white male looking to be in his late 40's. He is tall and very slim. One of the first things I noticed were his long slim hands. He was very sure that I understood all risks involved with the surgery and that I understood that my lifestyle would be comepletely different for the REST OF MY LIFE. He made sure I undestood this was not an easy fix and I would have to work at this the rest of my life. He was very confident in his abilities and humble at the same time. He seemed to be a very caring person. I immediately felt comfortable with him. I would give him a 100% satisfaction rating. His program is very structured even with an exercise program at 2 different places in the Jackson area.
His staff was just as caring and knowledgable. One of his nurses, Jeanie, has had RNY and she lets you know to call her for anything anytime. She said there was never a stupid question and if we questioned anything please do not hesitate to call her immediately. She talked to us from the health care provider standpoint and as a previous patient. I would give her a 100% satisfaction rating.
The nutritionist was named Keba and she made the nutrition part very exciting. She is such a motivating person that she had me all excited about protein. LOL She knew her stuff and made us feel that she really cared about us and was there for us anytime we needed her. I would have never in a million years thought that part of the appointment would have been so interesting.
If this team follows thru as carefully as they have started in this journey for me, then I will have had a wonderful experience. I am just so excited to feel completly comfortable with the whole staff and program.

Dr.Cleveland is a soft spoken gentle man with small surgeons hands,on my pre op visit he put me at ease right away, and was in no hurry.I trust this man with my life,if I didn't I would find someone else. I went to another surgeon for wls and didn't like his attitude even though it took months longer to get this done its better to trust your instincts and get a surgeon that you have faith in.Adam is great.Jeannie is a the greatest with all kinds of wonderful information and a great sense of humor.Kiba the dietition was very informative. And Sandra and Jeannie were both very patient with me and my many phone call.

My first impression of Dr. Cleveland was that he was a young surgeon with a lot of energy and passion for bariatric surgery. I decided to use him for my surgery from the first time I met him at the seminar. He operated on one of my best friends and came highly recommended. The office staff was very helpful. One of the RN's of the bariatric department of CMMC, Jeannie Stolk, was also a bariatric patient. It made the pre-op period much less stressful knowing that she was there to answer any and all questions...and she did. I would recommend Dr. Cleveland to anybody that is planning on having the surgery done. I feel he is a very competent surgeon with a great bedside manner.

My 1st impresson of Dr Cleveland was~~~ wow, he is a little man, I sure hope he doesnt have to pull on all of us big folks. As I consulted with him, I found him to be a very down to earth person. He is one that is open and honest and is concerned about your questions, fears, concerns, etc. His office staff is so sweet. I have meet several of them if not all of them....they are down on my level. They are very helpful and they let me know that I can call at any time if I have any questions at all. That they are there to help me. I have not had my surgery yet, but I would recomment him to anyone that wants a good surgeon that is well informed on his career. I have put my life in his hands, and this is something that I wouldnt do just for any Dr. I did my research before I contacted his office. The aftercare he emphasizes on ~~~~ you must stay on the program, you must follow the guidelines if you want to have the end results that he has said that you shall have after having this surgery. He let's you know the risks of the surgery, he even gives you a sheet on all the possible risks of surgery. He seems to be a very honest man. I would have to rate him a 10 at this time. His surgical competence and bedside manners was both great!

I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Cleveland. He had a great bedside manner, and his staff is outstanding. I know the surgery is different for everybody, but mine was a reall success story. I would recommend him over anyony else, but I am bias. I had little complications after my surgery. He and his staff explained all the complications to me and offered support groups before and after the surgery. I am not able to go to the meetings because I live in a different town, so I can not comment on the support groups. His surgical competence and bedside manner were great, I could not have been in better hands.
