Gorospe Bariatric Associates Bariatric Center

Dr. Gorospe is a big man, in a small physical stature. He is kind, caring and interested in you when he sees you. I wondered how does he manage in the operating room? He is short and small, how does he operate on these obese patients, some over 700 lbs.
Well, as it turns out, he is a very strong man, he holds a black belt in karete and also teaches this sport. He uses elevated steps in surgery and the height of the surgical table can be adjusted.
His office staff is well informed, accomidating and patient.
The thing I least like about my doc, is that he is too far away from where I live. He also made me attend a group support meeting before I could see him or even talk about scheduling my surgery. I was a previous bypass patient(1980's)and I had recently undergone basic testing at home for which he accepted the results of, therefore saving me a lot time in the pre-testing phase, and I was a long way away from home.
Future patients should know that he has your very best interest at heart and he will do everything in his power to give you the very best medical care possible, before, during and after your surgery. He will also make sure you are involved in his support group. He has a rule that you must meet with the support group prior to your surgery and you are expected to continue to go to the meetings afterward too. Dr. Gorospe also attends the meetings and they have special speakers in addition to the members sharing their stories and experiences.
Dr. Gorospe was very up front about the risk involved with the surgery, especially since I had already had bypass surgery. He gave me his statistics, and allowed me to ask any and many questions I wanted to. He told me he expected to have a hard time with my surgery, he expected and did find multiple problems from the previous surgery. But this was a blessing in disguise, he was able to "fix" all the problems and actually wound up saving my life! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gorospe and his dedication.
On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the very best there is, I would rate Dr. Gorospe a 10+.
Of course both are great, surgical competence and bedside manner, and Dr. Gorospe has both!!

I have only met Dr. Gorospie once in his group setting and then for consult. I really was very comfortable with him. I work in the hospitals and one thing that really impressed me about him is he really is into patient education. In my experience with the medical field this is a big big plus in my book. He seems to be very well respected. He does appear to be in very high demand around here and it takes along time to get a surgery date after consultation. I have not had much dealing with his office staff yet. His nurse seems great, she has been on our side of the fence so she can relate to his patients. I have attended one support class of his so far. HE NEEDS A BIGGER MEETING ROOM FOR SURE!!!!!. He explains the surgery well and tells you many time to do your own research. So far he rate high on my list but have not had that much contact with him personnally yet

I am really impressed with Dr. Gorospe. He
seems confident and very accomplished. He
has performed over 2,000 surgeries with great
success.

The first impression of Dr. Gorospe is, "He can't know the first thing about being obese. Look how thin he is." As he spoke, I soon knew he understood and was dedicated to helping the morbid obese to loose weight permantly. I appreciate the staff's help in making sure everything is on schedule. Dr. Gorospe's help and understanding spreads into a flood individuals, who are both pre-op and post-op, in the form of a support group, as well as having a great web site.

So far, everything I know about Dr. G is great. I have attended his monthly support group meetings for the past 6 months and they are so helpful and fun!

I instantly liked Dr. Gorospe and felt comfortable with him. I usually go with my first gut feeling and after my first visit I was ready for the surgery. His staff are wonderful and very helpful. Dr. Gorospe really seems to care about his patients and his staff is the same way. I have total confidence in them. They seem to have a pretty good support group and I enjoy going to the meetings, they are always packed full. He did address the risks and answered all questions bluntly. Overall I would rate him a 10.

I met Dr.G in nov.2001 and like most people are scared. But Dr.G explained everything in detail.I think he is a very nice and thoughtful person. I have never known anybody who is so kind and that has such a loving heart forhis patients. And his office staff is very nice.Michelle has been wonderful. I have never had somebody say call me if you need meI'm here 24-7.I have my surgery on march 7 2002. I'm so ready for this.I'm scared but it is going to be worth it. I have some friends that have had the surgeryand they said they would do it all over again in a heart beat.I will tell you this he is very causious and he is very upfront about all the procedures. I think Dr.G overall is wonderful and I thank him very much for helping us that our obeise.

12-6-01 I have my first appointment set for Jan. 9, 2002. As this is my first appointment I am assuming this is when he will tell me if I qualify for the surgery. My insurer assured me all was fine and approval would be quick. My file is already set up and they are only awaiting to hear from Dr. Gorospy. Wish Me Luck!
