Gorospe Bariatric Associates Bariatric Center

I knew what to expect from reading this site and enjoyed the group meeting explaining WLS and Dr. G's methods. Other people's questions were very helpful to me.
Then we went for our individual consultation. It felt a little impersonal, but was OK. I know they are VERY busy.
The office staff was somewhat abrupt but I assume this is because they are so busy. Everyone was nice to me and answered my questions.
I am happy with Dr. G's credentials and his experience. He also is not willing to take shortcuts in little things which makes me feel confident he will not take shortcuts in my care.
I had good vibes from the visit in general. I liked Dr. G and he had a friendly manner and smile that helped to calm my fears. I am scared of Doctors, Nurses, and ALL medical stuff---but he was OK.
I worry how I will find a way to pay for this surgery I need so badly, but I am praying that God's will be done.
Will write more as I know more.
8-14-01 Praise the Lord--- I have a date!!! 10-30-01 I will step through the door to a new life!!!!! I am scred and excited both, but I am VERY confident in Dr. Gorospe and his staff.
12-3-01 Well I survived it all and am doing fine. I still think Dr. G is a VERY good surgeon but could discern absolutely NO bedside manner! For what I p[aid him I think he could have at least been polite, interested, and acted like he was listening. I still think his technical skill is the BEST, however.
Oh and his office staff have no better attitude. Hey gals I PAID FOR THIS---- could you at least treat me politely with courtesy and act as if you cared? Maybe I am just too sensitve, but this was my personal impression based on my experience with Dr. G and his staff.

I guess I feel like a surgeon should look at the area he is going to operate on. Dr. Gorospe didn't look at my stomach until my husband and I mentioned that Dr. Rutledge couldn't perform the MGB because my stomach was like "cement." I felt Dr. Gorospe was knowledgable in this area but I came out of the office still not knowing everything I was getting into. I felt like I had to get my information from the Web.
Over time and since the surgery, I feel like Dr. Gorospe is an excellent surgeon but that he lacks a good bedside manner and that he should spend more time with his patients and not have so many appointments booked in one day so he can spend more time with his patients. I spent an hour-and-a-half in his waiting room for a one month check up so he could look at my open wound and tell me how I was doing and all he did was take a quick look and say, "It looks good, I'll see you in another month." If I have questions, his office staff answers them instead of himself.

I have been in for the 1st consult and was very pleased with the doctor and staff. They were great, although they seem a little overworked. I feel that they are giving the best care possible. I just wish the wait after approval wasn't so long. They stated they are booking 4 mos ahead now. After the wait on Insurance approval......... whew.... I hope it goes fast.........

He seemed quite friendly and straightforward. I think the office is too overloaded, sometimes. His staff is very helpful and friendly on the phone. I have seen a few other Doctors and when I mention his name, I get really great opinions of him. He is the most peer respected doctor I have ever dealt with.

Dr. Gorospe and his entire staff are incredible!! I could never say enough kind and grateful words about them. They have saved me. Dr. G and his group answered every question I could dream up and taught be a ton of things that I would have never thought of. I knew every aspect of this surgery before it happened. I knew when the tubes were coming out, when I was walking and when I was going home. I knew all of the risks of the surgery and what kind of changes that I would be making in my life. I had plenty of documentation and information about the entire process and felt as tho I could have done the surgery myself I was so completely informed and involved in the whole process.
Dr. Gorospe has been with me every step of the way. I have received calls at home to check on my progress, I see him in the office and his phone lines are always open.
Dr. G is fantastic all the way around. Surgical skills are great (you should see my tiny scar!) I didn't have ONE single problem with this surgery. No pain, so sickness, no throwing up, nothing. I know that the disclaimer on this page says that no one is the "best" in all aspects and that a report stating so would be considered "suspect", but NO ONE will ever convince me that there is a better doctor out there... EVER.

He's my angel sent from above....He makes you feel hopeful...when there is no more hope in your heart. Very compassionate about his work. Always willing to sit down w/ patients and explain everything for you in terms that "average" people can understand not just medical terms.

My first impression of Dr. G was there is no way this man can no what a obese person feels like. As he spoke I knew he was very informative about obesity and how it affects us. The office staff was so friendly and helpful Michelle is such an inspiration to me and I can relate to her story as if she were telling my story about myself word from word. If you are considering gastric bypass you should know Dr. G knows his profession he is in every way in it for his patients not the money. He has been doing this for 21yrs and is very much in demand. He is very much favorable for pain management and will not allow his patients to be in pain. He does not beat around the bush but tells it just like it is from the way the surgery will be performed to the risks of having the surgery. He is very kind and takes time to talk with you and answeres any question you have if he doesn't have the time his girls do they make the time. I don't know anything about his bedside manner yet but will in Jan. I do know he has changed hundreds of patients lives and I am looking forward to living my life again soon. Thanks Dr. G for caring about people and life.
