I was very nervous on my first visit to Dr. Ralph Breslaw. He made my husband and I feel at ease, took his time, answered all the questions and invited us to come to a meeting, which I found very helpful. His office staff was very helpful in trying to get me approved for the surgery (so many doctors' recommendations!) Dr. Breslaw is a good listener, and very positive. He was always available, and spelled out the positive and negative aspects of the surgery. The aftercare program was very good, and he emphasized the importance of meetings and group support. He started a nutrition group, and I can't say enough about Ruth Conover. I am very happy that I had him for a surgeon, he is very competent, and has a wonderful bedside manner. Both are important to me.

My first impression of Dr. Mary was she was straight forward, precise, thorough, and very busy. The office staff was friendly and informative. They know the procedures that patients should follow. They were very helpful. Dr. Mary can be abrupt at times. Future patients should know she is very abrupt and makes you feel very comfortable and tells you exactly what to expect. The aftercare is extremely important and is definitely stressed. It is very structured. You have to exercise, do not snack and eat what you are supposed to eat to be successful. The risks are given during your initial consultation. And there is ample time to ask questions. Dr. Mary answers your questions with thought and advise. I loved her as my surgeon and would definitely recommend her as a surgeon. She has great bedside manner and surgical competence. She knows what she is doing.

When I met Dr. Murphy she seemed so nice and concerned about the way I felt. I can honestly say that Dr. Murphy is my angel sent from above. The office staff were very freindly and always responded back to me on time. The only thing I did not like was that her office is so far away. She does come to Riverside, but not all the time. The Drs. from Pacific Bariatrics take turns. She makes it easy to see the Doctors by providing aftercare services near your area. I would rate her a 10+. I just wish I could see more of her. Another issue is that her staff does not push to see you after your year. I think they should send out reminders for your visits.

I was very impressed with his practice and how they handled each patient and the time they take.
My impression only got better and I was totally confident that I picked the right surgeon.
GREAT.
Nothing.
Anyone considering this surgery who lives in Florida should speak to this surgeon. They make you feel totally comfortable and explain everything in detail and will always answer your questions before, during and even after.
There aftercare program is excellent. I go to support groups on a monthly basis. They also have dietary groups and excersise groups. They are also available to you anytime.
The risks of surgery were well explained. I went into the surgery with a risk of blood clots because of severe veneous insufficiency. They explained I would get a blood thinner before and after surgery and would be in compression packs during and after.
Excellent.
This group has both and go well beyond the call.

Mary Murphy is the best surgeon you could possibly ask for. She has her patients best interest at heart.

Dr. Mary Murphy was the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of being operated on by. She could tell that I was extremely nervous, she was very patient and calming. She spoke with my mother in detail before they took me in and told her everything that would happen, and promised to call her on her cell phone the minute I was in recovery. She did everything she said she would. Dr. Murphy is serious about after care. She doesn't believe in babying anyone. You get busy as soon as possible after surgery. Ask her any question and she is happy to sit and answer them for you. She likes you to push yourself, and get back into the swing of things. She told me I could get right back on the tredmill the day I left the hospital. She was absolutely the best and if anyone could hand pick a surgeon in San Diego, I would definetely recommend Dr. Mary Murphy. I can't find a single negitive thing to say about Dr. M. Murphy or her surgical staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA. I was absolutely scared and alone for the most part, they stepped in and took very good care of me, just as they promised my mother they would. Thank you.
