South Texas Surgeons, P.A. Bariatric Center

I got to hear Dr. Carcamo speak at the seminar I attended and was really impressed that a surgeon would take the time - not just 5 min, but he was there the entire hour - to talk with us. He made me feel good about my decision to have the lapband. And at my first office visit with him, he was so warm and open and answered all my questions, no matter how ridiculous they may have sounded.rnHis office staff has been friendly and very helpful to me.

A great surgeon! Very caring and very interested in the success of his patients! rnrnThe office staff is great! They are all very considerate of each and every patient's cicumstances.rnrnAftercare is extremely important to Dr. Carcamo as he continues to emphasize to his patients that aftercare is 98% of the success of the individual. He may be tough at times, but his toughness is for the good of the patient to help the patient understand the processes of weight loss and the life changing decision that they have made in order for the weight loss surgery to be successful. There are times that the decisions and suggestions that he has made for the benefit of the patient may not be what the patient expected, anticipated or wanted, but in the long run, the decision (once pondered) turns out to be a good one.rnrnRisks of surgery are explained upfront and in detail. Patient questions are answered fully leaving no second guessing by the patient.rnrnOverall, I could not ask for a better surgeon. His surgical competence and bedside manner are tops! rn

Dr. Wright is a man of character. He listens well. has great eye contact and his body language all indicate unconditional support. rnrnHe can be tough, when he needs to, but always in a kind, matter-of-fact manner. Sometimes, it's difficult to hear the truth.rnrnWhen you leave the office, you feel your questions were answered and that he will be there for the long haul.rnrnDr Wright appeared to explain everything, the positive and negative aspects, of Lapband surgery. He directed me to various modes of information, so that I understood the Lapband system.rnrnHis office staff are professional, kind and yet have a sense of interest in all patients. rnrnHis surgical competence and bedside manner are exemplary. My family was also impressed with him.rnrnI would recommend Dr. Wright to anyone contemplating Lapband surgery. He won't do surgery unless you comply with the regulations of doing what is best for your health. Aftercare is very important and he strongly promotes this area.rnrnThese are impressions of my personal experience and each person must decide, for him/herself what they are looking for in a surgeon.

I immediately liked Dr. Carcamo. He seemed very professional and honest. As time went by, I realized he has a good sense of humor and genuinely cares for his patients.rnThe office staff is wonderful! Frances, Tiffany, Jeanette and the others are great girls!rnThere isn't anything I don't like about Dr. Carcamo.rnFuture patients should know that he will be honest and to the point about what can and can't be accomplished by Lap-Band surgery. He can't stress aftercare enough. They have a great support group both in person and online.rnThe Doctors were straightforward about the risks of surgery. I would rate both Drs. Carcamo and Wright to be excellent doctors.rnI believe both surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important.

Update:rnrnI changed my doctor from Dr. Fass in Austin to Dr. Carcamo in San Antonio for Insurance reasons.rnrnI met with Dr. Carcamo today (March 20,2007)rn we discussed all my ailments in great detail.I have never really spent that much time with a phycision.EVER!He asked me how I felt.I brought my sister with me she was hesitant about the procedure and after the consoltation she was very impressed. After visiting with him he order the blood work,EKG to evaluate my heat, and a chalking drink esophagus test...YUCK!!!!! :( .My sister and I went to lunch and we still had to talk with a lady about the Nutrientist and the Sych evaluation. She gave me a binder with all the instruction about pre-op and post-op procedures.Talked about this website.A shout out to all his patients which, I met a few while I was there.Congradulations on your weight loss.I'm really excited that I have made this switch to Dr.Carcamo! :)I know now he is the right doctor for the job.As a matter of fact I saw him as I was leaving ...He had preformed 3 of the lapband procedures while I was doing my testing.GOOOOO Doctor !!!!

MY first impression of Dr. Wright was somewhat positive. Of course the counsult didn't last but about 30 to 40 mins. and it's really hard for me to form an oppinion in so little time. Dr. Wright seamed \"very\", self-assured, which is what anyone would look for in their doctor. He also seemed a bit stoic and a bit arrogant. I quess it goes with the territory of, self-assured. Anyway, the man certainly gave the impression on knowing his job, and knowing it well,(which is a great thing, for anyone in his care). His office staff were all very sweet, and knowlegable. I particularly liked Christy, the phsycoligst. It's only been my first time speaking with him, one to one so I really can't form any kind of an oppinion yet, but I do know He (Dr. Wright), left me with the confidence that he is the one I want doing this surgery on me. I can only hope that his bedside manner gets better with time.

Dr. Wright is wonderful. He is understanding and supportive. The office staff are nice and want to assist you in anyway they can. What I liked best about Dr. Wright was his attention to me and what I was saying. I would like future patients to know that he will be there for them before, during and after the surgery. Aftercare is very important to the Doctor. He has a structured aftercare program in place. I have not discussed risks of the surgery yet, I guess that will be coming. Overall I found him and his staff to be very professional and respectful of me. I will have to wait to judge how my surgery goes and bedside manner. But at the present time I am very comfortable with him and the staff.
