Tallahassee Memorial Health Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Sieloff was that he was very knowlegdeable about the type of surgery that he would be performing. He is still in my opinion the best surgeon for gastric bypass surgery. He really emphasizes after care and the right way to eat to avoid dumping. Before the surgery he addressed all of the risks of the surgery and what to expect. Once again he is the best surgeon that insurance can pay for.

Dr. Sieloff was outstanding!!! He doesn't rush you and doesn't embarass you. His staff is helpful and supportive. He encourages his patients to become involved in the local Tallahassee Weight Loss support group. His office gives you a small book which explains the procedure, the risks, the aftercare, etc. Overall I rate him excellent in competence (and I checked him out with the Department of Health, the Board of Medicine, the Florida AMA, and people I knew in the medical malpratice insurance industry. He is also the surgeon that surgeons in town use.
The only neg. is that he no longer takes BCBS (but they've stopped paying for this surgery anyway). He only pratices at Tallahassee Medical Hospital. I wish he practiced at the other private hospital.

My husband and I attended Dr. Sieloff's WLS seminar in July and found him and his staff to be very professional, knowledgeable and attentive. I have my first appointment with him September 27, 2004.
My husband and I met with Dr. Sieloff and his surgical nurse, Jodi, yesterday. They were both very helpful, answered all questions, took their time with us and generally made sure we were comfortable with our choice to have the surgery. Dr. Sieloff and Jodi both have a caring bedside manner - very calm and reassuring.
I am concerned that he won't be able to do the procedure laparoscopically because of previous surgeries and he listened very intently while I described those surgeries.
Then, he explaind what he thought the chances were that he would be able to do the procedure laparoscopically (75%), which was only an educated guess since there is no way for him to know for certain before he begins the surgery.
When we arrived at the office I was given a true/false quiz to complete before I saw the doctor. I wrote my explanation next to any question that seemed like more of a gray area than T/F. Dr. Sieloff used that quiz to correct any misunderstandings.
I have every confidence that Dr. Sieloff and his staff will take very good care of me. My surgery date is October 8, 2004!!!

Dr. Sieloff appears very caring, considerate, and I feel perfectly at ease with him AND his staff. He seems to actually care what happens and how I'm feeling.
As far as aftercare, I wish more emphasys was put on seeing a support group; but overall I have been super pleased with this whole experience.

My first impression was that he was concerned and wanted to do whatever he could to make this process as easy as possible for me and his office staff is always available to answer any questions that I have. I have not had my surgery yet so I can't comment on his aftercare. However when I attended he information seminar he was very informative. He made it clear that this is a major surgery and not a walk in the park and it has some serious risks, including death.

Dr Sieloff is exceptionally caring and nonjudgemental. Professional and openly friendly. He's been terrific from day one. The whole office staff has been very supportive. Jody, his right hand gal (nurse) was the very best! I haven't had a bad experience with he or any of his staff. He's dependable and his office staff encourages you to call with any problem or question, anytime. It's a busy office but they always get back to you. Before, during and after surgery, he and Jody make sure you know exactly what is going on and what to expect along the weigh (way). On a scale of 1 to 10.. he's definitely at the top of the list.. a 10!!

Dr. Sieloff is a very soft-spoken man, not one to chat. I think he takes his cues from the patient as to how much and what to talk about. When I first met him one on one, I had a book of questions and felt that he would talk with me as long as I had something that I need answered. In the hospital, he gave me basic care instructions and said to come to the office in 10 days. He once again gave written instructions and information which for me is great. All in all, being 5 days post-op, I would give him an A+....I am feeling great and looking forward to the rest of my life.

Dr. Sieloff and his staff are extremely competent to handle even the most difficult of situations.
A seminar is held once a month for the benefit of those who might want to consider the gastric bypass surgery. The details of the surgery are explained in full. The added slide show explains the good and bad...all of it... the risks are explained in full.
The original surgery was a breeze. Within two weeks I was walking in a mall with my daughter.... a few weeks later I had a complication (obstruction). With an additional surgery; the problem was corrected.
Even considering my extra problem, I would do it again in a minute! The results have given me a new lease on life.
Dr. Sieloff and every member of his staff are knowledgeable and professional, however, after the surgery and the whole process, this patient felt as if she were a part of the 'family'. They are a caring group.
I highly recommend this qualified 'team'!

I attended Dr. Sieloff's seminar and it was very informative. He was very nice and pleasant. His staff seems to be extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. In Tallahassee he is the only doctor for this surgery. (Meaning the others don't compare)

I met him at his seminar. He spoke in laymans terms so that everyone could understand. He answered all questions completely. After completing my initial paper work, my contact was with Tracy until my pre-op visit. Dr. Sieloff was very soft spoken and reasuring about the surgery. He told me what to expect as far as my surgery and gave me an oportunity to ask questions. I've been to his office once since the surgery and he discussed what I could eat until I came back for my next visit. That will be Jan. 21,2004. I will update then.
Surgical competence is certainly of the utmost importance, but with so many options out there you shouldn't have to settle for someone with a bad bedside manner. I didn't.
