Dr pryor is very nice and is a wonderful doctor, I had my consult with her at stonybrook hospital in ny, I felt very comfortable and very happy with the staff also. I look forward to my weight loss journey with her! She's the best!

Just had my RNY-GASTRIC BYPASS surgery on the 15th of May,and my Surgeon and her team were great. Catered to all my health and medical concerns and helped me progress at my own individual pace

What was your first impression of her? Warm and concerned.

How would you describe her office staff? Some are super fantastic ,however, just as many or more must not enjoy their job or are just not people people! Also it is extremely hard to get a phone call returned!

What did you like least about her? I've only seen her once since I have not had my surgery yet, so I don't have anything I don't like thus far.

Does she have a structured aftercare program? Yes

How did she address the risks of surgery? She was warm but very informative.

How would you rate her overall? So far I'm excited that she is going to be my surgeon.

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? Well of course both would be great but if you could only have one I'd say surgical competence is mandatory!!!

These comments, impressions, and experiences are just my own personal opinions of my own personal journey so far and am making no statements about what other people may experience. I personally at this point am very happy I chose this route at Duke WLS Center. If I experience a significant change I will re-review.

She is very kind and caring and understanding about my needs. Excellent MD and surgeon, best medical experience I have ever had!

My first impression of my surg. was that she was very knowledgeable and she didnt suger code anything. She made me feel comfortable also my nurse had great things to say about her so that made me feel even better.

My first impression was really good. I said a woman surgeon... Yes!!! She saw that I was very nervous and she told me that I had nothing to worry about. She is very good at what she does. To this day you can hardly tell where the incision marks are! She told me what the risks from surgery were, and she let me know also what the risks were from not having the surgery ! A week after surgery I developed a blood clot in my leg and had to go back in the hospital. She was there the whole way thru and I give her props for being there for me.

I am very pleased with my surgeon, Aurora Pryor. As soon as I saw her, I liked her. Her manner is very personable, yet she is very professional. Dr. Pryor's staff is excellent--all very qualified and competent. Her fellow, Dr. Yurcison, was wonderful--I spent the majority of the interview with him.

On surgery day, while waiting to go into surgery I heard other doctors talking about her--how well known she is and how skilled, how known in her field she is. They seemed to sincerely admire her. I hadn't had any idea of that. She was not flashy or wordy, or attention-getting. I immediately felt more confident. My only "complaint" would be that I didn't see her long enough before or after the surgery!

Dr. Pryor is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable and provides direct discourse. Her office staff is fantastic as well. They are responsive to needs and questions and provide timely feedback.

Dr. Pryor is the surgeon, don't confuse that with aftercare, which should be provided by a PCP. Patients see the surgeon at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. For concerns during those intervals, a PCP is the best option. That said, Dr. Pryor and her staff will answer any questions you may have and it is not difficult to get on her clinic schedule should there be questions. Her Bariatric Fellows are great as well. They are knowledgable and can answer most questions.

The Weight Loss Surgery Center at Duke University Health System does have a highly structured aftercare program, that said it is up to the patient to follow the rules. They can't do it for you.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Pryor, the Metabolic Weight Loss Surgery Center and the nursing staff on 6-3 at Durham Regional Hospital. They provide superb care. You will be in good hands at Duke.

My first impression of Dr. Pryor was that she looked very young, however, after meeting and speaking with her, I realized she was more than competent. She is extremely experienced and well spoken about the procedure she performed (RNY). Her bedside manner is warm.

Duke, I believe, has a wonderful program, however, with any program there are issues. Some of the problems I have experienced are: not having my phone calls returned, waiting excessive amounts of time to see the surgeon (2-3 hours in the waiting room), and not getting to see the surgeon at all, instead seeing the resident.

I was very disappointed at my three week appointment that I did not get to see Dr. Pryor. After waiting for three hours in the waiting room, I was finally taken to a room to see the resident. I don't feel he addressed all of my concerns and I was rushed out. When I made my three month appointment I was advised by reception that this happens quite often and that I should consider scheduling my next appointment with the nurse practitioner, which I did.

Overall, I would rate Dr. Pryor very high, however, the program needs to be structured better so she is able to meet all the needs of her patients. A more reliable office staff is needed as well. Again, this is my experience and in no way reflects on the experiences of others.
